I highly doubt his agent or the union would have let him take the kind of discount it would have required for him to stay in Calgary.

So it's only acceptable when several millionaires are grouped together under some kind of brand.
Gotcha.

Honestly I'd watch maybe for the first few weeks but after that most likely not. That is unless whatever team he is in makes it to the playoffs (assuming flames don't)

If he leaves on good terms (ie: allowing himself to be traded in a move beneficial to the Flames) then I would definitely be rooting for him to win a cup... seems like it would be a win-win scenario for everyone.

I think that it's crazy to even consider that Iginla would do this after all he has done for this franchise and city.
He will deal with the Flames straight-up and they better as hell do the same for him.
I'm in the seemingly shrinking number of people who hope that he stays right where he is.

I know they would have discouraged him but I also think at the time he had no intention of working out a deal with the Flames anyway. He wanted to go where he could cash in the most.

I'll cheer for his team come the post-season. In the regular season, though, I'll only cheer him on. I actually want him to get moved to Pittsburgh. I really do. He would, without a doubt, win a cup there.

Your jimmies are rustled, aren't they?
Doesn't matter where he does, you'd have to be very, very arrogant not to cheer for him.

In a perfect world I would love nothing more than to see him moved at the deadline, win a cup, then re sign here in the off season!

yes, but don't think I could handle watching him win a cup with any team other than the Flames. Hope he stays here!

I think once he's gone and breaks that psychological barrier, he's not coming back. People should prepare themselves for that too.

I was going to say depends on the team, but then I realized that other than liking the Flames and hating the Canucks I don't care about other teams at all, so most likely yeah I'll wish him and his new team well.

The only arrogance is people like you who think they can tell someone who to cheer for.
I am a Flames fan and a hockey fan. I have teams I like and teams I hate. Deal with it.

If he gets traded or decides not to re-sign in Calgary I will definitely support him. Barring a trade to the Canucks or Oilers, in which case I'll cheer for him to score but cheer harder for the team to lose. I would love to see him in Philly and would get an Philly Iginla jersey immediately. Not that they are a cup contender by any means at this time.

Yes, of course. And so will 99.9% of the city. Unless he goes to the oilers or canucks.
I really hope he's not actually worried about how leaving would affect his legacy. It wouldn't change a thing, IMO.
