No chance Briere waives ntc to come here.

They have Shelley, Rinaldo and Sestito for muscle, could see Butler for Rinaldo. To address their need on D and our grit issue.

Have to think today is a mini domino as Ryder may have been in play to both Phil and Montreal, with Montreal winning the day and Philly settling on Gagne.

Hartnell would fill a big void on the Flames, a true powerforward who is strong and drives the net. We've lacked one since Chris Simon did it during our cup run and Hartnell is a heck of a lot more skilled than Simon. Glencross is our only consistent net presence at the moment. Flames have long needed that Holmstrom type player who is dominant in front of the net.

Love to have Hartnell and his contract isn't really as bad right now as people are making it out to be. Assuming the cap continues to go up it shouldn't be much of a handicap in the future either. I think some people are underrating him in this thread.

But would he come here? He's got a ntc or nmc and i can't see a vet like him leaving Philly to come to a rebuilding/retooling team. Agree with your assessment and would like a player like that but we are going to have to draft a player like that or hope we find a late bloomer like Testwuide in a deal with another team that can be that guy.

Is there a reason why the Flyers don't put Pronger on the LTIR? Is there any benefit to having him on the active roster?

I'm pretty sure Pronger is on LTIR. There is zero benefit to not having him there. They get to spend over the cap up to his cap hit to replace him as long as he is on LTIR.

Also, insurance probably won't pay his salary if he were on the active roster (just an assumption, not fact).

He must be on LTIR. They are $3 million over the cap if not. Unless there is another player on LTIR that i don't know about?

He's not according to capgeek. Harntell had 7 days, Meszarus and Shelley have been there for a bunch of days.
