If "rebuilding" (whatever the hell that means everyone seems to have their own definition) entails deliberately icing something less then your best possible line-up (via either front office mechanisms or coaches decision) then I disagree, it is quitting.

As of right now, the Flames look like they can play along side any capable NHL goalie even without Kipper, through if the management as well as Feaster/Hartley want to try still be competitive and make the playoffs they for sure need him.

Just because his pay goes down does not mean that he doesn't have another year or two afterwards to play for.

By legitimate, I do not mean Eric Francis, Pat Steinberg, TSN's professional speculators, or CP.

I mean something like a quote from Kipper, Feaster, Darryl Sutter, Ken King, Murray Edwards, Kipper's teammates.

Thanks. I will be surprised if there is one.
Ill check with my source and get back to you tomorrow.

might be nice to see ramo stop some shots from NHL'rs before making a decision.
And that's the thing Ramo has NHL experience, granted with a poor Tampa team but he was unable to get good results, and we're a poor Flames team. So I think some of us need to be a little bit more cautiously optimistic about him.

I dont think we're a playoff team with out him. When Kipper comes back and if Kipper plays like Kipper, we have a good shot sneeking into 8th spot.

Nor is there a rule that says you can't try to win while you rebuild.
Rebuilding requires young players and draft picks, lots of them, which, by definition, requires management to eck every bit of value out of their older players to restock the cupboard, it isn't a question of tanking on purpose it is a question of using the older players who will not get you a cup and will leave or retire and turning them into (hopefully) a couple of younger players who might get you a cup.

I know, how dare he compare Kipper to a clearly inferior goalie.

The opposition in the 17 games so far is .579. So the degree of difficulty is not any harder than its already been. We have had more home games, but we have been without Kipper (not to mention Backlund Baertschi and Cammy).

I believe by win %, you actually meant points %. I say this because the points % of the 3 teams we lost in shootouts is .704.

[EDIT] Bottom line though, I agree, we need Kipper to come back and play like he did last year if we want any success.
