Also, colour me cautiously optimistic. Need to see some more consistent efforts from this team. Have seen this song and dance for the past three years, I want to get excited but I need more!

they have been .500 3 times so far this year. In those 3 games, they are 0-3-0 and have been outscored 14-3.

I am not trying to be a Debbie Downer here, I am just saying that I would very much like to see them get over that hump before I get too excited.

Hopefully they can carry this momentum into Minny and get a road win. Three or 4 pts on this road trip would definitely make a statement.

True, though to be fair, the first 2 times were against Vancouver and St. Louis; both Cup contenders. And the last one was the second game in a back-to-back'er (though admittedly those 3 games could be their 3 worst performances of the season).

This one tomorrow is a winnable game, I would like to see them get over the hump as well. So far I'm enjoying this season more than the last 3.

Definitely a better season. We've actually come back from a few games when being down in the 3rd. I don't feel the need to turn off my TV every time they are losing going into the third.

Also, seeing JBo jump into the rush is amazing. As is the random depth scoring, which we are getting from skilled players.

I'd really like to see the Flames add a heavy hitter though. If the Flames could find a forward that strikes fear into the other team, we'd be much more complete. A Clutterbuck or Clowe type. In general, the Flames lack of size/toughness is overated. However, they could use that constant energy guy. The team is still struggling to maintain intensity through 60 minutes.

I believe this is the most entertaining "sinking ship team" in the last couple of decades of the NHL.

I can't wait for next weeks drama.

Actually i am quite scared about next weeks drama.

I honestly believe Flames could easily be 2 or 3 games above 500 at this point...

I also think Iginla is trending upwards, and if Kipper returns (and returns to form) Flames could get on a roll

It would have been a lot easier posting something positive before last nights debacle in Colorado, but I am happy to see the offence coming from so many different guys other than Iginla. More scoring depth than in last 5 years.

In the west there are three teams that have significantly better than 500 records. That's Chicago, Anaheim and LA. Everyone else is playing at 500 hockey. The Flames are four points out of a spot and that is without playing their best hockey. A four or five game win streak makes this season look completely different.

Look at the Sharks and the Kings. Sharks were world beaters at the beginning of the season, and now are on the outside looking in. The Kings were in full cup hangover mode, and have won five straight to get into the playoffs.

Should the Kings have folded their tents when they got off to their horrible start? Should the Sharks be in panic mode and sell off all of their aging assets?

Should the Flames try to improve until such time it is clear they have no chance to make the playoffs? I want the Flames to try until the bitter end.

I believe we are this generation Maple Leafs. Not bad enough to rebuild, because the ownership (and fans) won't stand for it, and close enough that people can always say "well if we didn't have this bad break or if we got one good break for once we wouldn't be 10th in the West." All the while with keystone cops at the tops that ownership unconditionally endorses.
