Random people on twitter: racist.
Russel Peters/ Dave Chappelle on stage in front of thousands: hillarious.
Expectations of entertainment.
Although, in a way thats a good point. In the context of a comedy show a lot is let slide due to 'expectation of entertainment' when really a lot of these 'racist' drive-by one-liners probably arent that different, they're just in a 'media' context as opposed to an entertainment context.
Much like one poster noted above, he thought the same thing and made a joke about it to his wife, so what?
Some people arent trying to be offensive, they're just trying to be funny. What is or isnt funny is really in the eye of the beholder.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
I think most of these tweets were meant with humour and not hatred in mind. Same jokes we would make if there were 2 white guys announcing the And1 Streetball tournament.
FYI, students are taught ZERO about Arabs and Indians/Pakistanis/Sri Lankans/Bengalis in school here. They are not even on the radar here. So instead of getting pissed off and calling people out, use it is a teaching opportunity to explain the differences.
I would not move to Pakistan then get angry at those people if they thought I was from South Carolina instead of Canada.
But it's not even that similar. Both Canadians and Americans are essentially the same people with an arbitrary border drawn between them. It would be equivalent to you moving to Pakistan and half the people calling you Brazilian because you're from "somewhere out in that other continent half way across the world". That would be ignorant and I'm sure it would tick you off.

Well to start, you yourself got your labels mixed up.
Yes, extremely ironic I know haha.

I find it more offensive if someone uses Brown stereotype against me like (do you drive a cab? Did you eat too much curry last night?) than if they call me a woman beater or terrorist. I actually have pretty thick skin when it comes to racism, but I get extremely annoyed with ignorance.

If Canadians and Americans are the same (according to poster above) same can we assume other neighboring countries around the world encompass the same people?

Not necessarily.
Canadians and Americans have the same culture, speak the same language, follow the same religions, eat the same food. Even their immigration patterns are similar.
Whereas Americans and Mexicans for example are most definitely not the same because they don't share the same characteristics explained above.
Similarly, Lebanese and Syrians are the same, Argentinians and Chileans are the same, Qataris and Saudis are the same, Germans and Austrians are the same, but Argentinians and Brazilians aren't the same, French and Italians aren't the same, Russians and Chinese aren't the same.
And by same I should really be saying similar. I don't assume that two populations in different countries can ever be the same.

I'm half Italian and everyone always assumes I eat a lot of pasta. It's never been something that's bothered me. Even the wop comments. Race talk simply isn't something I care or focus on.

Maybe I should have clarified. I'm Arab, so I find it ignorant when someone uses a brown stereotype against me (curry or cab driver jokes). You eating a lot of pasta just means they're making fun of your Italian heritage which I wouldn't find offensive. If I were to for example make fun of how you probably eat a lot of perogies and used a bunch of Eastern European jokes against you (assuming you're not half Polish or something), would that type of stupidity not piss you off?
Listen to you guys... "oh, those foreigners, they're so well spoken and eloquent"... So, what you're saying is, they don't sound brown?
Racists.
Not sure if this was sarcasm...
I didn't see anyone here call either of these guys a foreigner other than referencing what was seen on Twitter. In fact, it's very likely both of them were born and raised in Canada (not that it matters either way - felt the need to throw that caveat out there). He is especially well spoken compared to tweets like "who da fuk r deez indian tv guyz?!?111!" I found it funny that someone who can't type three words in a row correctly would be making fun of a professional broadcaster using whatever stereotypes their small mind can come up with.
I know a whole bunch of stuff I didn't learn in school. I never realized once you graduate that your brain is now full of everything worth knowing.
Hooray, that means you are better than the crazy people tweeting the racist comments. I am going out on a limb here that most of the people tweeting the offensive comments are not spending their weekends at MENSA meetings.
If Canadians and Americans are the same (according to poster above)
My point was not that they were the same. South Carolina is very different from Canada. My point was that I could easily understand how someone from Pakistan could see them as being the same and I would not care. I would not be so egotistical to assume the guy in Pakistan is an ignorant person, I would just assume that separating Canadians from South Carolinians is not very high on his list of priorities.

Absolutely not. If they don't know the difference between Italian and Polish why should that make me angry? I'm defined by the person I am not my heritage. There are too many races in the world for the average person to keep track. I know I can't.
It's also convenient that this enabled TSN to issue a press release announcing to the world they have new talent hosting the late-night show. So it looks like this backfired pretty spectacularly against those idiot racists.
