I thought it was a roster player and a high end prospect? Either way flames can't afford it.
I've read a lot of different rumours. Supposedly, what they really want is an offensive defenceman, a proven forward and a pick. I also read somewhere the original thing I wrote. Either way, asking for the moon.
What floors me is that was an oilers record for shots. You'd have thunk in some of those 8+ goal games they had in the 80's that they would have been north of 60 at least once.
(and yes, I put thunk in there on purpose)

I strongly suggest you watch this, I watched it way back when it was actually happening, and it was amazing at the time. I'm psyched to see the whole game is actually on youtube.

Also, excellent CBC reference.

Well this became the Avs-Oilers GT. Wow, WTH with the 56 shots? The Avs blew it with the 4-1 lead only to see those Oilers actually comeback all the way with 5 straight goals. The score would have been way worse except Varlamov was excellent in goal for the Avs. Goals coming quickly at the end of the 1st and 3rd periods. Dubnyk gets pulled after 1 period, definitely an off night there. Bulin wasn't that bad. There were 10 goals in that game and 11 in Florida where the Bolts beat the Panthers 6-5 in OT. Glad I PVRd that game and seeing the late game tying goal for the Bolts. That was fun to watch, intense, and lots for Tampa fans in attendence for their team's road game. Shoot out the lights in that game as the Panthers blow another 3rd period lead, 3rd time in a row. The BJs-Coyotes game was looking like a goal fest as it was 3-2 Phoenix after the 1st period. The Coyotes won 5-3 as Yandle had 3 assists. Steve Mason kept the BJs in the game with 30 saves. Those Ducks with Fasth in goal can't lose, he is now 7-0-0. Anaheim is a very strong road team as they win 3-2 in the SO over Nashville (who had 34 shots) and go 5-1-0 on their 6 game road trip. The Leafs win 3-0 over the injury riddled Senators. Ben Scrivens gets the 34 save SHUTOUT. The Habs beat the Flyers 4-1 and Budaj played well in goal for the sick Price. The surprise of the night had to be the Islanders spanking the Devils 5-1. It was scoreless until late in the 2nd period when the Isles scored 3 quick ones. Tavares with the hattrick and Moulson assisted on all of them. Nabokov gets the win and Hedberg who played well takes the loss.
Seriously? I've been an Oiler and Esks fan probably since you've been born. I've cheered for them through some rough times, none moreso than then Esks nasty '60s.
Lame

With Colorado, Edmonton and Colombus in the conference even if the Flames try it will be tough to get a top 5 pick. That game last night shows just how terrible both those teams are and how clueless they are at the defensive side of the game.
I know Oiler fans will spin a 10-0 loss into somehow showing how great their team is but after watching that game how they can't be worried about how bad their defense looks now and going forward is beyond me. 6 meh goals also wouldn't alleviate many of the offensive concerns the team has either.
