It's an interesting pairing...

Smith has only been on the ice for 1 goal this year total - by either taem.

Meanwhile, Babchuk is a goal waiting to happen at any given moment (either end).

Something has to give.

I was thinking the same thing.

I have this feeling they will come out on fire tonight, in sheltered minutes. It would come as no surprise if These two are awesome tonight and score a goal or two.

Being "ok" isnt going to keep them in the lineup. They have to be good, so i think they go for broke.

Im very interested in watching this pairing tonight.

Best d combos ever! It's like in Ice hockey from nintendo - 2 guys with the big slappers, 2 medium sized all rounders (Gio and Smith), and two sneaky lanky guys (Bouw and Brodie)

The Blues are a team that scares me. If they figure out their goaltending issues, watch out.

Flames may make them look fantastic.. they have that tendency.

Be interesting to see if his game improves with the new system. It has for others so why not him.

I think Babchuk can be a lot better then he was last year and certainly a lot more useful under Hartley's style, which stresses defencemen being apart of the offence. He can certainly be interesting in his own zone at times but we've seen him be better then that. Brent Sutter lost all confidence in him and his game was shot.

Would love to see a return to the game he had when he first arrived here, that would be a huge plus to this team.

I'd calm expectations though. He's been out a good while and has not yet actually played a game under the new system.

Agreed, I think if Babchuk can hold his own in the defensive zone he can solidify himself as a bottom pairing defenceman. He did play in the KHL during the lockout so hopefully it was a good learning experience and he can continue his production from a couple years ago.

Good game. I would like to see Smith replace Butler and if Babchuk is ready for next game he can replace Sarich.

I said it after last game haha.

ugh, don't like the last d pairing. Although I understand the criticism on Butler, i just don't have faith in the Anton. I'm willing not to say "hell no! i ain't watching this game now!", but i'l resist that. I suppose it's kind of a wash talent wise...but a move away from defensive-d to a more offensive unit. I wonder if The Anton will play on the pp......

PP1 wideman, PP2 babchuk. How on earth will the opposition deploy their shot blockers now!

Babchuk will be better in the system too, I still remember his play two seasons ago when he was awesome, being used properly. last season was a joke.

As big a game as they have had yet this season, competing for a playoff spot with games in hand, after a rocky start this is pretty close to a must win.

No prediction but I hope they play as well as they have been for the past handful of games. Really hope Irving settles down in the net and finds his groove.

So the obvious solution was to request drink holders, which they did. I thought hrmm smart. Ok so one guy carries the four beer in the drink holders then the other guy carries the two orders of Nachos. Well done gentlemen.

Then something happened that I will never forget for the rest of my life.

They took the two beer and put them in the front two compartments, and snuggled the Nachos in beside the beer. It was a perfect fit.

I have drawn a diagram and put it in this spoiler tag for size:

Spoiler!

I was absolutely blown away, I got right in there and asked them "What is this sorcery you control?" And they told me to give it a shot, so I did. It was amazing. Even after a few heroine beer you could still maneuver like a dream.. I felt like I was floating to my seat, temping fate by weaving my bundle of treasures through the crowd.. it was ecstasy.

So now when I get to go to a Flames game it is one of the things I look forward to the most. Thank you young doods, whoever you are.

Seconded. Didn't there used to be a post of the year award around these parts?
