But so was Stajan.......

It is pretty moronic that someone has to get hurt for their to be a suspension though.

I would have thought at least a fine was warranted for this Taylor Hall two-hander, but it appears he's getting off scot-free.

Player didn't get injured and the Coyotes are not one of the NHL's golden teams.

He is concussed....quite a fake job indeed.

The Boston Bruins announced Thursday evening that left winger Brad Marchand suffered a mild concussion on the elbow hit to the head he took Wednesday night from New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov.
The Bruins did not say how long Marchand would be out. The announcement from general manager Peter Chiarelli said the team will "provide an update on his status when appropriate."

just saw the incident ... unbelievable decision. Should have been at least 3-5 games, given that Hall was already suspended once this season. Disappointing job by Shanahan's wheel of justice.

If this was the Flames, they wouldn't have cared. Everyone would skate right back to bench as if nothing happened- at least, that's what it seems like the last bunch of games.

I can't believe he's not getting disciplined for that. That is ridiculously malicious. Sure, he didn't go for the head, but that was a blatant baseball swing to slash a guy. There was definite intent to inflict harm.

I thought the Hall slash was much worse then his suspension earlier this season.

So much for Shanahan being a change in direction. haha

Politics gets in the way. Shanahan is just like any politician that is all piss and vinegar in the voting process only to do an about face when he gets in office and learns that the internal roadblocks are much more daunting than they appear from the outside. The only way it could be carried out effectively and fair is to have a neutral organization handle it. As long as the league handles it suspensions will always be handed out in a manner that keeps their best interests in mind. It's not in the league's best interests to have big name players suspended when customers are paying top dollar to see said players on the ice nightly. Same with the markets. It's easier to penalize players on smaller market teams and teams with less influential ownership as there's less backlash.

I think the NHL wants to keep Hall in the lineup so they don't tank and another marketable player gets sent to Edmonton...not good for the league.
