Yup, they`re spring wound (super thin). They definitely stop moving after some time and the winding oscillates much faster after a couple turns on the winding crown.
I think they even have they're own registered movement. At least they list one on the insert (17 Jewel L1809).

Only reason I even knew about such awesomeness was an app on my iPhone...Uncrate...its all about cool toys for men. Sent these to the wife about 6 months ago, completely forgot about them, and then was shocked when she got them for me this Xmas.
