3 losses in 4 games (and could have been 4 in a row), included being run out of the gym by your biggest rival, is not exactly how Michigan probably wants to be playing going into tournament time. And as usual Tom Izzo has his guys looking ready to play deep into March. We'll see if UM can pull themselves out of it like Kansas did this week.

For reference: those 3 losses are at Indiana, at Michigan State and at Wisconsin. Pretty forgivable losses. While 1-3 is disappointing, I think a 2-2 record would be pretty darn good for that stretch.
Having said that I'm going to have some trouble trusting Michigan in the tournament like I trust Michigan State.
Speaking of rough stretches, after Saturday's Nebraska game MSU has Indiana, @Ohio St., @Michigan and Wisconsin. If they go 3-1 on that stretch they'll have a good chance at being my title pick.

I was worried about that MSU game going in. Izzo is such a great coach and the Spartans have built a physical defending team for the last 6-7 years.
I'm not surprised at the loss nor do I see it as an upset. I figured it would have been a 5-7 pt game though.
Michigan needs to quite relying on the outside game and Get RobinsonIII more involved. Burke is a fantastic Guard but the inside game has to be established against teams like IND, MSU, OSU.

Ohio State loses by 22 to Wisconsin this afternoon, now 1-7 against ranked opponents. Is this team really deserving to be ranked as high as #13 or even ranked at all? They have at least two more games against ranked opponents. Those two opponents are no slouches in Michigan State (home) and Indiana (road).

Wichita State scores 8 points in the final 36 seconds to come out of Normal, IL with a one point win against Illinois St.
What a sports day! First the Flames score 3 in the third to win in Dallas and then the Shockers with a crazy comeback on the road tonight!
It was on ESPNU, did anyone catch it?

Well my ESPNplayer subscription was just cancelled so I can't watch more than whatever is on the big10 network or the 4 or so games that tsn/cbs show a week. I have watched games from the First Row and am open to people PM'ing me similar experiences.

Hmm, was Jim Boeheim giving his kids an ass chewing after today's disaster against Georgetown where they shot 34% (17-50), Georgetown didn't far much better despite winning the game as they shot 35% ( 19-54)?
Basically 55 minutes after the game this afternoon the media still wasn't allowed in the locker room, and well the media usually has access after Jim Boeheim's press conference which roughly finished 25 minutes before that. After reading some tweets from Jim Boeheim's press conference it just makes me wonder since he basically pointed out all things that went wrong in their horrific game this afternoon.

Just noticed that Gonzaga is #2 in the country....what a great accomplishment for Few and company.

I really like Gonzaga and this certainly appears to be the best team of the Few era, but I'd argue they really don't deserve to be #1 if they get there, more a case of everyone in front of them has lost enough to push Gonzaga to the front. Losing to the Big 10's sixth best team on your home court definitely works against the Zags.

If they get to #1....of course they deserve to be there. What a ridiculous argument...because other teams lost more the Zags should be punished?
And FYI when they lost earlier this year to Illinois....that team was #13 in the country. Thats how strong that conference is this year.

I always look at it as if you switch Indiana's and Gonzaga's schedule how would they do? Odds are Indiana would have the same record as Gonzaga (probably even be 29-0) playing the Zags schedule, but Gonzaga would likely have 3-6 more losses playing Indiana's schedule. Unfortunetly when you play in a weak conference, you play a weak schdule, and when you lose your only two matchups against top-20 teams, it doesn't speak well for you.
Besides even if Gonzaga gets to #1 so what? This isn't football where they need to be #1 or #2 to have a chance at the championship. If they get to #1 and get bounced against a 16 seed in the tournament, getting to #1 means less than nothing.

I understand they dont need to be #1 to win a championship.
Im merely saying they are just as deserving as anyone else that gets that spot IF they have the wins to support it. Like i said losing to a hig ranked team doesnt really hurt a team when they win 27 other times. Indiana lost to Illinois as well BTW.
My biggest question is if the Zags win out, do they get a 1 seed in the tourney, and what regional will they be placed in. Thats where finishing high really comes into play. Hopefully they get the one seed in the West and play in San Jose the first 2 rounds...barring that in Salt Lake. Lets see how well Spokane travels to support them.

If Gonzaga finishes as the #1 ranked team (and I think they have a very good chance to) it would be pretty stunning to not get a #1 seed. Unprecedented I would guess even. Gonzaga will definitely go to the LA bracket by default if they get a #1 seed because all other #1's figure to be from the East Coast/Midwest.

Agreed, they haven't beaten anyone of consequence and are 1-2 against ranked teams. That's not a record worthy of #1. That's not a record worthy of the top 5.

They don't. Their biggest win is over Oklahoma St, who were in the midst of their worst stretch of the year. There are numerous teams with more wins to support that ranking, and many more teams that would have as good as, if not better, record playing Gonzaga's soft schedule.

I'd expect it to be the shortest odds on a 16 over 1 that we've seen if that's the case.

Looks like the Zags will get the chance to go to #1 now that Indiana has fallen again. If they can handle BYU in Provo I think they get there.

If Duke or Michigan don't lose I would definitely put them ahead of Gonzaga but that isn't how the voters usually work so I expect Gonzaga to be there now.
This really was the best season for them to play their cupcake conference schedule as none of the other big teams have been able to make a big run in their much tougher conference schedules.
