A Horak, A a baby Granlund and a Wotherspoon surely make up for one spoiled, some might say under whelming Erixon yes?

Maybe, but I'd rather have the young second pairing d-man for the Flames.

When I saw the clip of Tom skating to the bench while the rest of the Rangers were pairing off, I thought good riddance.

I get the feeling that a young gun named patrick seiloff will take those honors. Only time will tell. But as vulcan said. His weak showing in the team mate department made me glad he was traded

Nevermind hte fact he outright didn't want to play on Calgary. Do you want someone like that on your team? That right there is a cancer. Plain and simple. He is a young player with potential, but hasn't lived up to a fraction of it and has a sever prima donna complex. I would take Horak, Granlund and Wotherspoon over Erixon 100 times out of 100. Calgary doesn't need that crap.

Well obviously not. I'm saying organizationally I'd prefer a young second pairing d-man. So I don't see how we can "win" the trade. We got good value for a kid that didn't want to be here, but we lost a piece that would address a major need.

It's like acquiring Glencross. Taking away the goals he scored against the Flames made it a smart move even if he did nothing.

I am not being negative, he could very well become a good nhler, I just think it's too early to tell - as well way too early to start saying we won the Erixon trade, I still don't think we have.

He made the NHL because he deserved to. Because he was one of the best centres in camp. Them's the facts bro.

I'm not sure how anybody could state we lost the Erixon / Horak trade. Horak looks to be a viable future #2-3C in the NHL someday, and plays well defensively. Erixon had no intention of signing with Calgary, so the Flames did the best they could with the cards they were dealt.
Rewind to the day before the Erixon / Horak trade with what we know today. The Rangers would likely not pull the trigger on it. They drafted McIlrath and are stacked on the blueline, Horak would have been a good player to keep for depth for them, and Erixon didn't really work out as well- you can tell because they traded him.
So knowing all of the above, I just don't know how one could state the Flames lost the trade. It actually worked out pretty well for them.

Sutter might not be the Flames coach anymore so maybe this is a moot point. However, he did say Horak is like a sponge. He wants to learn everything and works very hard. He's now reaping the rewards of his positive attitude, skill and ice time. It's amazing to see.

During the 61 games that Roman Horak was up, Brent Sutter would bend anybody's ear that would listen about how much he enjoyed having Horak in his locker room.

The Rangers flipped Erixon for Nash. They added some pieces, but Erixon was a big part of it. Basically, both teams win by trading Erixon.

The best part of it is that Erixon loses.

My man crush on Horak grows every time I hear about him. I haven't paid much attention to hockey at all this year, but seeing him on the front of the AHL website tonight made me giddy.
