Spinoff of X-men series... not sure if I like this either. At the risk of sounding imcredibly antagonistic, I don't know if I like the idea of turning movies into a longer version of TV episodes. Kinda like Daredevil and Elektra.
|
As long as they are done well, I have no problem with it. Although maybe a mini series on TV might suit them more.. but as long as they are done properly.. etc etc.
The X-Men have so many amazing stories, and so many amazing character it is hard to stop at one 3 movie series.

Oh, I'm not saying stop the X-men series. If anything, add more... slowly bring it along rather then jamming too many characters together too fast. The spinoff is the one I'm just wondering about.
I can't wait for Gambit to come (X4?). They hinted Rene Lebeau in X2, so I was really hoping for him in X3. Once again being antagonistic, I would have rather liked to see him then, say, Beast, Nightcrawler or Strom (bleh, such a vanilla character) although I can understand the argument of overkilling the shady, who know's characters with Wolerrine.

Wow, crazy stuff Fotze. That should create more interest in the movie.. a death!
Word to the wise, if you want to live, don't have a film made about you. Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, and this Bounty Hunter all died during the production of their films.

A preview of Spielberg's War of the Worlds follow up, which could spark controversy: "the tale of a secret Mossad hit squad ordered to assassinate Palestinian terrorists after the massacre of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics in Munich"
"The film, which is being written by the playwright Tony Kushner - it is his first feature screenplay - begins with the killing of 11 Israeli athletes in Munich. But it focuses on the Israeli retaliation: the assassinations, ordered by Prime Minister Golda Meir, of Palestinians identified by Israeli intelligence as terrorists, including some who were not directly implicated in the Olympic massacre."

This thread needs a bump
Anyone else think Christian Bale is the fastest rising star out there? 3 of his last 4 movies, he was unbelivable. Batman Begins, the Machinest, and a lesser known Equalibrium are all must watch movies. It may be a little premature to give him this label, but I think he's a unknown (but not inferior) version of Tom Cruise.
Incidently, while being the least known of the 3, Equalibrium actually is one of my top 5 (possibly top 3) favourite movies I have ever seen. If anybody hasn't watched it, your missing out seriously. Think 1984 plot with The Matrix touch, only shorter, better effects and just overall better movie then the Matrix.

I don't think he's a rising star. He's one of the under-the-radar guys, an indie, cult movie type actor.

I saw a documentary about the "retaliation" once and it was a hell of a story. Way better than any spy-novel writer could come up with.
Talk about a touchy subject though. Yikes.

X-Men 3 is going to suck.
http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050708a.php
Yes, Brett Ratner the director is going to create a "sexy" new mutant that is a hooker, and apparently one of the Williams sisters will play here. My lord... horrible.
Anyways, Fantastic Four opens this weekend, anyone planning on attending?
I'm not a huge fan of them but it does look like a good movie. I've got a couple of free passes from work so I might go.

Ya, judging by this script review, X3 will be a huge step down in quality.

To be honest, I haven't been to impressed by most of the trailers, and every review I've read/heard has said it sucks. Free might be the only way to see it.

LOL! That is laughable. Not only the idea, but a Williams sister?
I was really looking forward to this one. X1 was pretty good for me, X2 slipped a bit IMO, and I was hoping X3 would rebound with Kelsey Grammer as Beast and have Jagguernaught.
Stick to the script. Geez, a hooker mutant turned x-men/

This past weekend, Glen A. Larson appeared at the London Film & Comic Con. Anyway, one of the members of our site (Cylon.Org) went along and asked the Father/Creator the question if you're a fan of the classic Battlestar Galactica: "Is there going to be a movie?"
The answer is yes, and he's looking at a timescale of making it in 12-18 months and he's currently going over scripts for the film.

EDIT: After reading the link you provided it sounds like it would be a vision in competition with the current success produced by Sci-Fi Channel and probably vastly inferior.
Therefore . . . . BOOOOOO!!!!
By the way, for any latecomers to the series, on Saturday night (tomorrow) on an NBC station near you, probably on cable so even non-satellite people can access, there will be a three hour Battlestar Galactica mini-marathon.
They're showing an episode from later in season one called "Hand Of God" which should, theoretically, bring you reasonably up to speed on the plot lines, then they're showing the final two hour season ending cliff hanger.
CITY TV in Toronto and I think a station in Vancouver are also in on it.
Season 2 starts on Sci-Fi channel in the USA next week. Season 2 doesn't come to Canada's Space Channel until the fall. The entire season 1 will be re-broadcast ahead of that.

If people don’t pay 11 dollars to see jack black, a giant gorilla vs. a dinosaur then the movie industry is surely in danger. P.S it does look cool

It looks a little too jam packed for me. There's alot of stuff they're trying to cover in 2 hours, which would likely cause a plot shift, ala Day After Tomorrow (IMO).

I dont know much about King Kong but does he live on the island from Jurassic Park? because why the hell are there dinosaurs?
And other than that it looks good, but I don't know about Jack Black playing a serious role, the entire trailer I was expecting him to say some line that would make me laugh.

Yup, pretty massive leap of faith by Peter Jackson. When I heard Jack Black was going to be in this movie I thought he would have been the plunky sidekick.. but it looks like the lead role. Here's hoping it pays off.

Maybe I'll try to catch it there. I've wanted to watch this for a bit now, but I really don't want to watch an episode mid-season. So if I find out when they start replaying the entire first season I will watch.. or just wait and rent the Season 1 DVD.
