With the 7th Avenue rejuvenation and station relocation, even crack mac's isn't what it used to be.

Agreed....I work by the crack macs and it has cleaned up....except that walk through park.....seems to have gotten more shady.....and just from my experience...it seems the homeless are moving west....an East Village conspiracy! Do something Mar!

I've lived in 6 spots downtown, ranging from central beltline to the south end of Altadore. The best bang for buck was probably Bankview. It's quite a bit cheaper than Beltline, but still pretty much as close. I liked the fact that I could walk (downhill) to 17th, and then after a few drinks a cab ride home was easy to get and only $10 with a generous tip.
And being on that hill reduced the amount of transients rifling through cars at night. But it did make winter driving a bit more...interesting.

tldr - don't forget about Bankview
