He was never an ace unfortunately. He'd be perfect as the number 2 guy which is why it's tragic we couldn't get Darvish this summber

In the offseason I suggested Gio Gonzalez would not be that far behind Romero as a #2 starter on the Blue Jays should they go out and acquire him, may even be able to pitch ahead of him on the depth chart....than I was subsequently told Gonzalez was a #4 starter on a AL East team....it's been a tough year for Romero, but it's not unusual for younger pitches to have consistency issues early in their career. Even a great pitcher like Halladay was a few years until he established himself as a consistant force.

Coming into this series, S-Net defined this series as a season defining series.
It is, but not in a good way.
Lawrie likely to be out for a while now.

Well the Jays likely can pick up something good if they go into sell mode. They grabbed Escobar and Rasmus the last two years by selling at the deadline.

Well that series is over. Day off tomorrow, then off to Boston. Hopefully they can get a nice piece in return for the likes of a Darren Oliver or Kelly Johnson.

Maybe a guy like Rajai Davis has value to someone too, a guy who can come off the bench and steal a base has helped many a post season team.

His trade value surely has cooled off with his recent slump. Can't steal if you can't hit.

I'm sure all of JPA, Escobar, Johnson, Davis, and some pen arms will become available.

No, but he doesn't have to hit, as a pinch runner, he'd have value. Post sease teams always seem to have a pinch running specialist.

Man, they showed that replay of Lawrie falling about five times right after it happened...I found it really hard to watch for some reason, although the injury could have been much worse.

JPA is such a team guy, it'd be bad to see him go

He's also one of the worst catchers in all of baseball. Hopefully his 20-25 HR capable bat will intrigue other teams enough to offer something decent in return on the trade market.
JP the guy and teammate is great, but the player on the field leaves a lot to be desired.
