I second the ceramic painting... completely outta the norm and kinda relaxing as well. There was one down in/by Bowness just off 16th, but the name escapes me. I always found a good way to end the date was grabbing some dessert and a coffee to go, and parking and watching the jets land just off McKnight.

One of the first few dates I went on with my now wife was to the shooting range. She had never fired so much as a paper clip with a rubber band and now she was loading a glock 9mm, jamming the clip in and cocking it. She absolutely loved every minute of it. Big smile on her face for the rest of the day, and every now and then she would just start going "pew! pew! pew!" and laugh. We've gone back a few times and its always just as good. Guns save relationships.

I had the same thoughts. Does the diving start with an m and rhyme with tough?

TBQH, I love your adventurous optimism. I, like you, took that exact same attitude you've been talking about... go go go, have fun, you make the decisions because you're awesome.
As a result, I have a beautiful girlfriend I thought I could never get, and we're always doing new things. Chicks like confidence, I'll back you up on that fully. They like it when you don't ask them what they want to do, TELL THEM what they want to do.
My first date with the GF was a hockey game, and then the rippers. Yeah, it was mainly a night that catered to what I wanted to do... but she's the one that suggested we go to Boudoir Rogue afterwards! I was totally diggin' her at that point. I got to watch hockey (and stick it to my ex who walked by me at the Saddledome), and see naked chicks do their thing.
Seven months later, here we are still... and for the most part it 's great. Confidence is where it's at... anyone saying TBQH is a dick probably hasn't taken the attitude he's taken. I have, and I it was out of my comfort zone at first, but it works, and WELL.
As for the date idea - hockey game. Spend the money and just do it if it's between October and April. You'll have fun, she'll have fun and there's absolutely no pressure at a hockey game.

People are considering TBQH to be a bit of a dick because there is a difference between the perception of confidence versus arrogance. Both of which work to help woo women, but arrogance eventually grows tiresome. Women, from my experience, prefer quiet confidence over a bombastic personally. They want someone who knows what they want and how they plan on getting it. You don't need to be over the top with the projection of confidence to do that, you just have to have confidence in yourself. Nobody likes arrogant, so when TBQH says things like "No to strip clubs. This one is a real lady and a keeper" and then follow it up with "Needs to be in the city. Inexpensive too. As a lady has to prove herself before the wallet opens". How is she a keeper, but she still has to prove herself before the wallet opens? That just comes off as not very confident at all (or at least very untrustworthy) and appears to many posters here as arrogance.

I wouldn't take a girl to paint or cook on a first date, might very well bore the arse of her (and not in a good way) a first date for me in Vancouver would be Kinos where they play very good flamenco and the food is ok, chicks dig it when you have interesting musical taste, more to the point I won't date anyone who doesnt have a good taste in live music so I might as well get that test out of the way first.
Incidently you cant call yourself an awesome alpha male if you are coming on here asking where to take a girl to on a first date, it betrays a few things, either you are unsure of your normal first date ideas, therefore neither awesome nor alpha, or you havn't got any first date ideas, also not alpha or awesome.

Muta, you got it!
I've know this girl for months and we've hung out with others on several occasions.
AFC - I came here asking for unique ideas and the Zipline (which I wouldn't have thought of admittedly) is a fantastic idea. Secondly if you read the thread you would see this would be the 2nd date.
Thirdly this is a community filled with wonderful people who love to offer opinions and I asked for some. I got some not so nice comments but that's what you get. I think there are fantastic people on this board and some true a'holes. Incidentally the typical a'holes have come out, like they do in most threads, but that's their thing and that's what they are going to do to anyone who posts. So it means nothing. Skip their BS and move on.

This is going to be too late for this date, but a cool thing I did with my wife as a date in our first year of dating was to go for a midnight picnic to watch the Perseid meteor shower in August. Super romantic, out of the normal, and geek cool all at once.
Here's info about the showers if you decide to do this as a later date.

Yes, I will put her out of her comfort zone (she will be all over me then he he he). It's up to me to be alpha and show her how she can enjoy herself. I'm charismatic that way. I'm not worried about her not having fun because she will. Confidence is what is key. Not the place.

If you were as good as you think you are, you wouldn't be here asking for opinions. You'd be on here telling us how awesome the date was, because you are the be all and end all of alpha males.
I also second worth's suggestion of sh*t on her chest.

Toss her into a hole in your basement, later on that day wear her skin as a suit and parade around town. She'd likely be uncomfortable with that.
