Michael Thompson already back to even. How insane would it be to go from first round leader to cut?

Look at that Hahn guy, wasn't he at -2 at some point last night? He shot +15 in his last 22 holes.

Wow thats insane about Hanh. This truly is an absolutely merciless golf event. The Open Championship can get pretty ugly at times with the weather, but the USGA just loves to torture golfers.

17 year old Hossler now tied for the lead.

I hope the kid stays on the first page of the leaderboard.

3 weird holes for Tiger- missed a short putt for par on 5, got a very bad break on his approach shot on 6, and just pounded his birdie putt on 7... Could have easily been even, maybe +1 on those 3 holes. Instead he went +3.

This is going to be a wild weekend. I think anyone who makes the cut will have a chance because its going to be unpredictable.

I wouldn't be surprised at some point this weekend someone near the lead having a ridiculous meltdown. Like a 10+ on a hole.

Apparently Curtis Strange can't just call him Beau Hossler, its Young Man Beau Hossler.

David Toms winning the US open would be about as exciting as a weekend trip to three hills.

Man that course is a beast, Of the leaders I think Toms will fall back if the wind comes up, Furyk's putting stroke will be his demise. couple of longshot names to look at for the weekend is Dufner and Garcia. Dufner is a young steel nerved Toms and Garcia just doesn't give a crap so he has no nerves.

Still think it's Tiger in the end though.

Tiger seems to have his mental part of his game back. He seems to have great confidence in his game and looks like the Tiger of old. I think he wins it.

I was watching NBC for about a half hour this afternoon, and I just love listening to Johnny miller - his comments are bang on.......Sergio put two of his tee shots in the trees and miller noted how both shots were "treemendous"..........

Personally I like seeing these guys suffer versus seeing the winner being 20 under.......

Love the fact that coverage will drift into prime time.......

Just perusing the complete results from yesterday, and it struck me that the list of those who missed the cut maybe just as impressive as those who did....11 major winners not playing the weekend by my count.

Simply the most difficult golf course seen by these guys in a long long time.

Hows this for insane? Olympic Club has nearly 40,000 trees on the property. By contrast the 2015 US Open host course, Chambers Bay in Tacoma, has....one.

The US should play Ryder Cup here. The Europeans would have no chance!
