I'm picturing you wearing it strapped to your head in line for passenger screening, and I can totally see why they'd want to talk to you about it.

Is there anything you miss about cable? I want to do this myself but wonder about thinks like live sports, pay per view, and events like the Olympics.

GPS that works without data.

I'm in San Diego right now and spent the last 3 days in LA/Anaheim. I honestly can't imagine what it was like prior to this. Trying to use a physical map and then having to plan all your own routes.

BTW my hotel is about 100 feet from the ocean and I'm watching the sun set over the horizon as we speak. Just sayin'.

There isn't anything we miss about cable. I don't like watching sports, though, so it makes it pretty easy. I would've missed the Olympics, I think. Hopefully there are a lot of good streaming options next time around.

I heard on the radio this morning Yahoo is considering a bid for the 2014 games that would include streaming online and something like Netflix/Apple TV (ie: not traditional cable). So your wish may come true! Apparently CTV et al and CBC have had bids turned down by the IOC.

As for making my life easier, PVR. We only recently got one (6 months ago) and I cannot fathom how I functioned without it. My Kindle has made my reading experience easier and more convenient.

Online banking! I love not going to the bank and pay all my bills in a few minutes.

Been four years without it. Don't miss it at all. I know from watching my friends and parents regular TV that I never could go back. Shaw actually gave us free basic with a discounted faster internet connection for six months. Haven't been on the cable for more than a few minutes just to see which channels they gave us. I can read pretty fast and can't stand the pace of regular news broadcasts. A story I'm really interested in will see me reading ten or twenty articles from as many viewpoints as I can find. Pretty hard to do that with TV.

Think about a series you are really in to. Now imagine watching as many episodes back to back, pausing them, only at times most convenient for yourself. Anything else is truly barbaric.

That said, I hardly watch any sports at all. To me its like watching porn, I'd rather be doing it. Had no trouble streaming the winter Olympic sports that I like.

Just bought a Kobo eReader. I was very hesitant to get one because I like to collect the books.

Now I buy the Kobo edition as well as the physical copy to stock in my library. It costs me more but I just neeeeed that physical copy. Not having to awkwardly hold a thick book is quite nice and my books remain in prestine condition.

Second that. Had one on the last Europe trip with the family..... Marriage saver. Drove into Brussels at night, Jet-lagged like hell, and good old Jeeves (English voice) took me through 5 roundabouts and numerous one-ways straight to our hotel in the city center. Turned what would have been a nightmarish drive into an effortless beauty

Okay, I will get one tomorrow. If its a total dud, I'll let it do my basement from now on. No one ever cleans down there.

Used to be squeeze bottles for ketchup, but now the Heinz ketchup bottles require too much pressure to start the flow of ketchup, thus causing a ketchup explosion with a massive pileup of ketchup on one side of the hot dog.

You can still buy the old style squeeze bottles. What you described is probably my biggest pet peeve. Then I realized they still sell the old bottles.

Mayo in a squeeze bottle makes my life easier as well.
