The upcoming federal election is giving a party used to being in 3rd or 4th place the win. This party has in fact even mentioned favoring the idea of adopting a new currency, the obvious would be the Canadian dollar.
Should be interesting, there is still a lot of fear on the value of the Krona when the currency controls are lifted.

They actually made a movie where this happened. It was called "D2: Mighty Ducks".

One of the major targets needed to share currency is trade and meeting that goal is certainly in the works. Here is the most recent article I found dated Jan 4, 2013.
"Trade between Iceland and Canada is currently sparse. In 2011, only 0.43 percent of Iceland’s total exports went to Canada ($20.7 million.) For the same year, Canada’s share of the total imports by Iceland was 1.25 percent ($51.2 million.)
Iceland would like to expand trade relations with Canada, particularly in tourism. My country has experienced an explosion in tourism in recent years and that could well become our No. 1 industry. For 2012, the number of tourists was projected to have grown by 17 percent.
Opportunities for expansion also exist in the fisheries industry. Efforts are already under way to stimulate interest in Iceland’s fishery. An Icelandic shipping company, Eimskip, has been active in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia for 40 years, but its expansion is constrained by local regulations.
Iceland also has a strong competitive advantage in energy-intensive industries, thanks to its relatively cheap and renewable clean-energy resources — hydro and geothermal. This sector attracts much-needed foreign investment. Indeed, Rio Tinto Alcan owns an aluminum smelter and is one of the largest industrial companies in Iceland. Canadian investments are also found in the geothermal-energy sector.
Finally, one mustn’t forget the Arctic. Iceland’s economic well-being and livelihood are shaped by the natural riches and climatic conditions of the North. Iceland and Canada share vested interests in the Arctic. The pending exploitation of Iceland’s newly discovered offshore oil resources offers the opportunity to strengthen ties with Canada’s dynamic oil industry. Iceland sees ample scope for developing such bilateral and regional cooperation with Canada on economic and cultural issues involving the North."
It does continue to say that the loonie isn't an option, but if trade increases it would certainly make it more viable.

Doesnt more currency in circulation mean the current currency is worth less?
Its there any wonder why the Krona is permanently deflated? Now they are trying to piggyback on our currency - I dont like it, it smells fishy.

Why would there be more currency in circulation? They aren't going to print a bunch of $20's to hand over to Iceland.

Iceland would have to build up their own reserves would they not? No extra money goes into circulation and they would recieve no consideration with regards to our fiscal policy. Plus they're a tiny country, it's like adding another Regina in terms of how much of our money they will build up.
I personally would love to visit Iceland. It's been on my to do list for a while. Seems like a "couples" vacation though so that might be a ways away for me at this point.

They can use our currency, but that doesn't give them any control over our monetary policy. The Bank of Canada will still be run in Canada.

Really? It's hard to imagine that a country with 300,000 people would be a "party" place. But that's good news, cause I definitely want to go.

The bar scene in Reykjavik is crazy, people party all night. I wound up in a random apartment a few blocks away with 30+ locals at 7am. It was incredibly bizarre, but awesome. I also had one of the best meals of my life there. The best part is that even if you sleep until noon you'll still be able to see the major sites as they aren't that far away and if you go in the summer it's light until late evening (or later).
Also, the hot dogs. Oh the hot dogs. I want one so bad.

I know some drillers that were doing some exploration work in Greenland and on their time off, the company would give them a choice between St. John's or Reykjavik, and they usually went to Reykjavik. Although I have been tolde that they are quite similar.
And if you know drillers, then you can imagine the chaotic parties they would have.

I trust you went here:
I have nothing to contribute on the currency issue--I see no reason why Canada would care, really.
But now I REALLY want a hot dog.

They're a Polish street food called a "Zapiekanka".
In it's most basic form, you take a baguette, cut it in half, cover each half with mushrooms and cheese, stick it in the oven until the baguette is crispy and the cheese is melted and then you put on some ketchup and chives. Most people make their own variations of it however and some of them are absolutely amazing.
Usually the good ones have different types of meat that are added in between the cheese and mushrooms before cooking and then, like the one in that pic, they add different combinations of veggies and dressing depending on the type.
My personal favorite was a spicy variation that I believe had some grounded peppers with the mushrooms as well as spicy sausage, cheese and it was absolutely slathered in spicy ketchup.
I specifically mentioned the jewish quarter in Krakow cause they have little building in the square that has about 5 or 6 seperate zapiekanka vendors, all with different variations and styles. Extremely tasty but really busy.

It's not the same if you're not standing in a parking lot still half wasted from the night before
