The left lane of any multilane highway should only be used for passing. So at 110-115, if you are only keeping pace with traffic on the right, you are effectively blocking the highway and not meeting the spirit of "slower traffic keep right"
Anyone no matter what their speed, should keep right if they aren't passing.
With huge traffic volume, this kind of goes out the door. But still, you should go with the flow of traffic and maintain a reasonable safe distance with the car in front when in the left lane.

The logic used to calculate the 1 in 3 is just wrong since a bunch of the tickets will go to the same people who get multiple tickets in a year and a bunch of the tickets are to visitors.
Hard to know what the real stats are but its nowhere near 1 in 3 or 1 in 4. Probably more like 1 in 8.

if someone a-hole is speeding behind you, i suggest getting out of his way as he is a safety hazard to you and your family and is better off well in front of you.

Someone going 10-20km slower than the flow of traffic in the left lane of a multilane highway is a much higher safety hazard in my opinion irregardless of what the law says.

If you are going the speed limit, you should not be in the left lane. The left lane is for passing. There are just certain courtesies like this that make it more efficient and even safer for all drivers.

The rule is simple....slower traffic keep right....no matter what speeds are involved, you always defer to the right of someone going faster.

I wish there were more of these around.
I prefer these over photo-radar because I actually slow down.

If you were driving speed limit, then there's no reason for you to even BE in the left lane, as you aren't going to pass anyone anyways.

ya ya, no kidding .. but if there is a car in front of me and no one in the left lane, i will go in the left lane thank you very much. its far safer and of course if a car is coming up behind, you pull over to the right lane.
goes with out saying, but that wasnt his question.
besides, who me where it says -
"the left lane is not to be driven in, it is only there for the cases where a car in the right lane is not going the posted speed limit and you may need to pass them".
because it surely doesnt say -
" the left lane is for driving faster than the posted speed limit in order to pass those cars in the right lane that are going the posted limit"
you guys with your unwritten rules, give me a break. the left lane is for driving in and its a courtesy and for safety to move to the right lane if someone behind you is driving faster and would like to pass, even though they shouldnt be able to physically pass you if you are both going the posted speed.

Im glad not many people have your mindset dementedreality. There'd likely be many more casualties if more people did.

Of course you do. Police, however, don't make money on them, and therefore, are few and far between.

On 68th southbound approaching 16th there is a sign that lights up if you are going over the limit. And there isn't much leeway - if you are going 3 or 4 clicks over 60 (the limit there) then it flashes at you.

Really? I see those and think "Time to beat my high score!"
I hate the ones that just turn to a sad face after X km/h over the limit. Those ones are actually pretty smart as they aren't fun for anyone.

Yup, they used to have one in Tuscany. Everytime I passed by it, I like to see how fast I can clock that thing.

Is there no crowdsourced map API that can point out traps / radars in Calgary? Would be a good service to get started on if not.
