RSN had audio issues in the first period of last night but the picture lagging the audio has been an ongoing thing all season.

It has been like this for most of the year. So sick of knowing if the shot is a goal or a save before it actually happens.
Get your shiz together Sportsnet, this is ridiculous.

Amateur and IMO the Flames really need to look at how their product is being handled by RSN. Absolutely embaressing audio presentation, 3rd rate PBP & color commentators, YouTube quality intermissions, etc. If the Flames really want to grow their fanbase they really need to ensure their television partner is doing a first rate job of giving fans a reason to tune into a broadcast and that's simply not the case with RSN. I don't watch their pregame, intermission, and post game because it's so terrible. I know I'm not the only person that get's a little more excited to tune into a Flames broadcast when TSN is handling it. It's kind of a tragedy that Flames are locked into RSN. Maybe a petition could be started or something as the Flames need to hear feeback about how unnaceptable RSN's representation of their product is.

Hey, you forgot Kerr has a lousy haircut.
I think the broadcast is fine except for this audio problem and it is getting damn irritating.

Don't see NE US teams on Fox Sports Network, which is US Sportsnet equivalent.

Probably because there is no Fox Sports Network in most of the NE US

I don't even care about Kerr. To me he's no diffrerent than Loubardias in that the presentation is so bad that it could take the shine off Cuthbert, Hughson, etc. If TSN brought him over I could live with it as their more professional presentation would prop him up. The whole RSN package feels like watching a 25 year old 2&7 broadcast in HD. Even HNIC has advanced since then.

I'm not as clued up on the quality of PBP as you guys as this is the first season I've been able to choose between home and away broadcasts. But I have noticed that Kerr is IMO improving, but my perception may be predicated upon the results!
One thing that has driven me nuts though is hearing him announce goals before the puck has gone in. Surely RSN have been aware of this problem for some time, so why are they seemingly doing nothing about it?

I'm not a fan of Kerr, but I don't get worked up about his call. The audio delay is so bush league though. And Roger's response was pretty bush league as well. If the sold advertising is taking away from the quality of the broadcast, they should go away with it until they can fix this obvious issue. 6 frames is not a lot, but when you're dealinhg bang-bang action, you'd like it to be 100 percent in synch. I don't think that it's asking too much for the play by play to be synched up with the on ice action.

i agree that 6 frames/second is not a lot.... i think it's something other than the advertising that is causing the delay as the audio seems to be closer to a second behind the video.
i know about a month ago while watching the local evening news (global okangan) the audio was behind the video. they said they were aware of the problem and it was ONLY effecting people with shaw boxes. they did have it fixed by the next day.
so who knows... maybe it has something to do with shaw too??

Last nights game sounded like it was being remixed on the fly by some RSN DJ.
I've watched midget hockey games on Shaw cable channel 10 that looked more professional.

I had issues with Telus. The first period the audio was dropping out a little bit, then fine later on. I didn't really notice any of the other PBP calls being out of sync, just the actual goals. This could be that the rest of the action on the ice is relatively slow pace and I didn't notice a audio sync mismatch.

If you have a PVR you can at least delay the video to match Maher's PBP.

The Toronto Sportsnet feed from last night was good. I think this is a Sportsnet West issue. I flipped back and forth and you can hear the difference right away.

I could be mistaken but isn't 1 second of film equal to 24 frames? So in actuality the broadcast is only off by 1/4 of a second. Amirite?
Crazy that such a tiny delay is such a big deal. I don't notice it all the time but when I do, it is really bad. Most PBP guys are just a tad behind but on those goal calls it becomes irritating and can really diminish my enjoyment of the broadcast.

in the PM i got from roger he said it was 30 frames/second... so a delay of 6 frames/second is almost unnoticeable (1/5 of a second?!?). i find that most nights the audio and video are pretty good. you might notice it a bit with the sound of a hit being just a hair behind the video.
last night was just weird... as others mentioned... lots of stuff repeated, then parts of words being missed, not to mentioned that the audio was noticeably behind the video
oh well.... next game is on tsn so we get to to watch guys like boumister and gordano

Last night was worse then 30 frames or 1/4 a second...it was so bad that I think, as mentioned, they tried to manually delay Kerr's PBP by the end of the 1st.
The result made things even worse, with the repeating of words when the delayed audio ended and the originally mistimed audio was still in the background.

It's also made me ask myself several times (for a split-second) "did that go in?" because you hear Kerr say "GOAL!!1!" and the player hasn't even made a celebratory reaction yet.

The delay last night (on Bell here) was way more than 1/5 or 1/4 of a second. Kerr called out "goal!" just as Byron was starting his deke to the left on my screen. Easily a whole second or two even.

Is it just a Sportsnet West issue? I usually have the same issues on Centre Ice from their feed, but I watched the last game on Sportsnet Ontario, and there were no delays.
