So what you are saying is that because the British chose not to take the same path of brutality that they took in other parts of the world, Canadians owe them for it?
Canada was built off the hardwork of commoners and people who were brave enough to settle the land. It was not built from a piece of paper signed by a monarch.

Maybe not, but you are a hateful, spiteful person, or at least that is how you have come across for years now.

Where do you think the vast majority of those hard working commoners came from?? Canadian's owe a great debt to GB, a large portion of which was paid with the blood of young Canadians in WWII protecting what many Canadians felt was their motherland.

Not sure how it's hateful or spiteful that certain royal family members were friendly with the Nazi regime pre-WW2...it's just fact.
PM me and show me where I have been full of "hate" over the years.

Except that Queen Victoria limited the amount of aid allowed. It wasn't allowed to be more than what she gave as to not make her look cheap. Meanwhile, people were starving.
It took a near outbreak of war with the Ottoman empire to get food aid onto the island because the ships were being blocked.

The British government's actions were shamefully slow during the time, but as with much of colonialism, blame ultimately rests with the british government rather than the monarchy which dictated very little of governmental policy at that point. The monarchy isn't blameless, but to single her out as being responsible for any deaths ignores the massive ignorance of the parliament, landlords, and merchants who had far more opportunity to avert the crisis.
|
Fair point. I realize that the monarchs didn't always control the government, but they had the ability back then to sway politicians (and still do now). They also didn't seem to mind the gold and rich that came pouring in because of those policies.

There are more examples half way down this page.
Prince Bernhard was an honorary SS member.

King Edward's sympathies were well know, You do know that there were lots of Nazi sympathizers pre WW2, because they were a very efficient government, that managed to make Germany strong again the so called "They got the train running" argument.
But you're spreading the whole individual sympathizers and making it, the whole family were sympathizers.
There were a wack of American Nazi Sympathizers, as there was a very active Nazi party presence in this country too.
You posting a picture of a royal marching in a funeral precession and then screaming, see their all Nazi's deep down is dishonest at best.

In the foreword to his 1986 book If I Were an Animal, Prince Philip wrote,
“In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, in order to contribute something to solve overpopulation.”
Oh thanks Philip, well maybe you could start by offing yourself.
Actually, Philip has a bunch of hilarious (but mean) quotes.
...and here is Prince Philip marching with Nazi's.
So yeah ....I don't wish to be associated in any way with Nazi eugenicists.

I'm not talking about British people, just the Royal family.
And BTW, a lot of those people left Britain because of oppression (religious, economic and ethnic).

There may be some truth to that and it's only because of the Royal Families german roots and the fact that Queen Victoria (who was german) and Prince Albert (who was german) descendents married into many royal houses including Germany. Now being a Nazi sympathizer before you found out what they were actually doing and being a sympathizer after knowing what they are doing ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. With the slight possilbe still unproven exception of Edward VIII (Duke of Windsor)...I guarantee you most would not be sympathizers if they knew the atrouscities that took place. So easy to look back in hindsight and connect dots without realizing that a lot of world had no idea what was going until after the fact.
So i think that statement is a huge stretch and I am all about sticking to reality and facts even if i could care less what happens to British Royalty.

I never said the "whole" royal family were nazi's. The family does have German roots. They also have eugenics in common.
And yes, the American elite industrialists loved the facist system Mussolini set up.

Is that even Prince Phillip? That looks to me like Edward VIII - Prince Phillip and the Queen weren't even married until 1947.

Why does the pattern of their runways resemble a swastika?* Coincidence? I think not!
* It can't possibly be for the reason that it is the most efficient layout of runways given all the space available at DEN. Nah...

From everything I've seen that is Philip, if you look closely enough Lord Mountbatten (sp) is also in the picture, one row back wearing a German Naval hat, and he certainly was not Nazi, or a sympathizer.
