Have their really been 80 billioin people alive on the Earth? I read somewhere that there are more people alive now than have ever died. They were basing this on the fact that the global population of humans goes back millions of yeasr, but for most of that time it was far less than 1 million. Only in the last 10,000 years or so, when agriculture was invented was the population able to soar well above that.

This article claims that the world's seven billionth's person was born in Ottawa today. I don't know about that though, wouldn't it be damn near impossible to actually determine what specific number a new baby is on the planet?
