I used to watch the Score all the time, now I don't even know what channel it's on.

The Score is the best right now, even if a couple of their new guys suck. Jay Onright is good on TSN but I hate the rest of em, that chick too.

Ya they've dipped slightly in the last year with the loss of Cabbie (I know not everyone likes him, but I do) and a couple others, but Sid & Tim are awesome. I'd seriously put them juuuuust below Jay & Dan, its close.
The only guy who kinda GMG on the Score is Randy Urban, all he does in his segments is hit on chicks. If you can do it Cabbie style and make it funny, its awesome. But he doesn't, he just hits on them like he's at the club and doesn't talk about anything sports related. You can tell he thinks he's a big deal, just seems like a DB to me. His back & forths with Gerry Dee are pretty funny though, but I'd chalk that more up to Dee than him.
Him aside, I pretty much like everyone on there. Sports fans who don't watch the Score are doing themselves a disservice.
EDIT: And evman, its channel 222 on Shaw HD. At least in Edmonton anyway, but I think its the same.

I appreciate you doing this (I get some strange kind of amusement from seeing these posts like with Rebecca Black), but I have a feeling that thanks to the free 4 months thing, you're going to get a ton of people who forget to send in the cancel notification and the magazine will do just fine for a year or so.

Close, you should have used "not aligned" instead of "out of place". No executive washroom key for you!

Is the price really going to be a big deal?
It's a $3 magazine!

The Calgarypuck demographic is not the one's that Sportsnet Mag are going after I believe. The people that read magazines for the most part are 35 plus and not for the most part the Under 35 group. Being a stats guy I would be curious on what the average age of Calgarypucksters is and I would bet it is between 25-30. I believe the magazine will be successful because as Stephen Brunt said we can find out the scores and stuff instantly but alot of people are curious on the inside stories and perspectives these journalists have.

The problem with this idea is that Steven Brunt's perspective on a relevant issue will likely have been made known on issues on TV long before the article he wrote gets read. Getting his opinion out ASAP is also part of his role with Sportsnet, but having that opinion out there also undercuts the interest of seeing that opinion in a glossy magazine a week and a half later.
To get a paper copy of a magazine out across the entire country, I am guessing it takes 2 or 3 day days at very least from printing. Printing a "high gloss" magazine probably takes a couple days as well. So articles would have to be written by Monday, showing up in newstands the following Monday at earliest.
Sure, if you want to read about what the Jays are going to have to do in the offseason, there is no rush or urgency to get that opinion at the beginning of October.
But if you want to get Brunt or anyone else's perspective on no touch icing, given the events of last night, you'll have to wait to see that diatribe in print on October 11th in the copy of Sportsnet Magazine.
Of course, long before then, on Sportsnet TV and Sportsnet Radio, and probably on his Sportsnet Blog, Brunt will offer his insight and feelings and opinions on the issue multiple times. He has to/will be forced to, to keep up with the stories of the day, and the like of TSN and their personalties opinions in the competitve world of sports media. But that means when the extended article comes out in 10 days in a shiny magazine, it will be "old" news in general, and to those who follow Brunt's opinions on Sportsnet in general.
Overall, I agreee...it just doesn't seem relevant enough in a number of ways, to be able to justify the return on investment, given all the overhead involved with creating a national print magazine. But it is still Rogers-backed, so not a surprise about questionable business decisions.

Even worse, it's a bi-weekly magazine, and with the lead time required for the magazines to go to press, stories could be 3 weeks old by the time someone has the magazine in their hands.

Haha pretty much. I bought an NFL preview issue in the summer and as I read it, I realized everything I was reading was already badly out of date. At least its something to read in the can, that's basically the only purpose sports mags serve anymore.

It's more than news, it's well-written in-depth features.
For example Derek Boogaard died 4 months ago, but the article written in the magazine about him is still as haunting as when it happened because it is a long essay with alot of detail.

Tim and Sid are leaving The Score, they announced it on their podcast last month. Sid is still hosting this season of Drafted, and Tim is doing play by play for the rest of the OUA season, but after that they're moving on... Rumour has it that they'll be the new afternoon hosts on Fan 590.
The Score has done a good job developing sports talent for Canada, Tim and Sid, Friedman, Cybulski (I'm not a Cybulski fan, but he's certainly got a big gig now). Now their main guys are pretty much Cam Stewart, DJ Bennett, Sansone, and Rob Pizzo... And I don't think it'll take long for Pizzo to get a gig with a bigger network because he's an awesome hockey journalist.
Losing Tim and Sid will be huge for them, they are The Score imo... With their Sirius channel getting shut down last month they lost a fair amount of really talented radio personalities.
