I don't think it has a meaning. I do remember where it came from, though. There was this show we used to watch as kids...Blossom. Someone on there said it, and then me and my sis started saying it when we discovered that it really pissed off our stepmom.
Just a word that sounds vulgar, but isn't.

My dog will bark at people who are walking down my back alley. People in my alley is not common and I want my dog to bark at them.

The neighbors appreciate my dog barking too as it has scared away a car thief in the past.

There is quite a difference when a dog barks if the perimeter is being approached and just barking cause it is alone.

I mean you're adopting a dog that's potentially going to be with you for well over a decade.

I volunteered at the humane society for a year or so and there were so many impulse buys that were taken to the pound because people didn't realize how much work fluffy actually was going to be... it drove myself and the staff nuts.... especially at Christmas time.

If everyone bought responsibly and did their research there would be no more puppy mills with awful conditions.

.
Yah, folks are crazy if they buy from a Pet store (Dog farms are risky...risky) However.....Petsmart of the world do have association to Adoption Agencies. Dogs are clearly marked which are the rescues.

Yep, for the folks who are not 100% sure if they can handle a dog. Call an adoption agency and go with the program called "foster to own".

Adoption agency get their dogs from "farmers" and "Reserves"... or from some poor chap who never fixed their dog... Why not buy from the same person. This will ultimately help the Adoption agencies as they won't have to go and rescue so many dogs... (i.e in the dump or left in camp grounds etc).

lololololololol I guarantee your neighbours are not happy you have a whaling banshee in your backyard that prevents them from peacefully walking down the alley. A motion detector light or car alarm probably would have scared the prowler away, too.

You need to keep the log but maintain that you want to remain anonymous. The burden on collection of proof should be on by-law, not citizens. They know this, they are just trying to triage the amount of calls they get, knowing they can only deal with so many "barking dog"m files in a year. Worst comes to worst and they still need a bunch of hard proof to write these clowns a ticket, they can install noise monitors in the vicinty to gather all the evidence they need. Just keep at it, but hold your ground on not wanting to testify.
Deadly dude. I'm going to get on it. Thanks a lot!

Maybe I'm confusing Petsmart with another franchised store then....

Agreed, the foster to own programs are amazing.

Anyways, sorry for the sidetrack Silver, I don't have any real suggestions for your problem as it's tough when you live next to some ####ty dog owner... it annoys me as I think 3/4's of dog owners are responsible but the other 1/4 reflect badly on all of us.

I'd write a simple yet polite note and leave it at your neighbors house.

See if that helps, if it doesn't buy a hand grenade and go play catch with his dog.

If your kid starts to cry or scream please take them inside your house after 30 seconds of noise. I don't like hearing kids cry and I am sure people don't like hearing my dog bark. He is a yorkie so loves to bark while he is playing with my other dog or our neighbors. If it gets to the point it is excessive barking not a bark every now and then I will take him into the house. Would you take your child into the house if their crying, screaming, singing gets excessive?

May or may not help, it's only a $200.00 fine if you do get caught killing an animal, which is alot cheaper than doing what the city wants, is a log of when the dog barks day and night for 2 weeks, a photo and discription of said dog, and they warn you also you may have to go to court as a witness.... I'd rather pay $200.00

Oddly enough, I so have a much quietier sleep at night now.....

Sure, just let me know when my kid is crying or screaming for four hours straight beginning at 10:00pm, and I'll be sure to let him back in.

Absolutely. We freak if they get too loud.

I don't think it's a fair comparison, though. Raising human beings is required for our species. There's no getting around it. Dogs, on the other hand, could basically disappear tomorrow and life would go on like normal the day after, with very few exceptions.

I often find little dogs to be much more likely to bark often in comparison to big dogs. Its just a personal observation, not sure if there is something to it, but its often women who buy those little rat like dogs and treat them like human beings with no regard for discipline or rules, which is odd cause most mothers have no problem with doing that for their children.

More people need to watch the dog whisperer before buying a dog.

I'm quite interested in the results of this thread, as there is a house down the street from me that leaves his dos ourside all day to bark at anyone and everyone that walks down the street.
Luckily he is like 5 houses down and a bunch of big trees mute the sound by the time it gets to my place, but I still don't understand how anyone lives closer this family without calling bylaw every day.

Question. Does the guy know how much his dogs are barking? Since he is not home. How would he know? At least leave him a note.

I used to leave my dogs outside all day depending on the weather etc etc. I suppose the difference is that I actually talk with my neighbors and asked them if the dogs have been barking a lot.

They also have my cell phone with instructions to call me if there is a problem with the dog barking. I have actually had a couple screw ups in the past where the dog go left out when I didn't realize it. So them letting me know was doing me a favor.

how ironic would it be if "somebody" like this fell into a pit and and a dog hears your scream for help. Looks down and takes a dump.

Then you are wrong and you can stick your guarantee.

My neighbors don't use the alley as I mentioned it is barely used. My dog also barks and doesn't "whale like a banshee"

I have actually spoken to my neighbors and they appreciate it and especially the night a prowler was scared off cause the motion light just gives him a better view of what you are doing at 3am.

Maybe when you are older and you have females in your home and you go on the road alot you will have a better understanding. Till then you are just a person who doesn't like a dogs and can't read either.

OOHHHH a motion sensor thanks for lighting the prowlers way. Look out he has a light!!!! Run away, Run away!!! You know how many times that light come on from branches and other objects. The prowler has 2 minutes to unscrew it or pop it and you will just think it went out.

It is statistically proven that the #1 reason that stops home break ins, from criminals themselves, is a dog.

I will take my sentry and so will my neighbors over your flashlight anyday.

I dont think my dog barking at somebody in the alley once a month is an issue.

You're right, barking at somebody once a month isn't an issue. None of this is directed at a dog owner like you. We are talking about dogs that bark constantly, at all hours, on a regular basis.
