Moneysense Magazine rated 100 Charities in 2010 (it's too be an annual exercise) based on a number of criteria, including the amount spent to raise $100.

While the methodology may/may not have flaws, I think the list holds a ton of valuable, reasonable, interesting data for consideration.

One of my biggest beefs is Money spent on "Awareness". Things like the weekend to end Breast Cancer have huge costs just to put on the event. Now these costs usually end up not being shown as overhead but instead are included on the good side of the ledger going toward charitable works.
