Watching those videos he doesnt appear that small, if hes 5'9 hes the same height as Brad Marchand. Hopefully he can put on some weight. I'm actually fairly optimistic he'll be a late round surprise.

Even though we use metric, we don't measure a person's height in cm. Same thing with weight, we use pounds. Its kind of messed up.

Ya, just poking fun at the Canadian use of the metric system, we live in the middle of the US, but my Wife is a East coast Canadian maritimer (from around Crosby's home town), so we go back an fourth ribbin each other. Though I do have to explain Tim Hortons to those around me when we watch NHL games.

I'm gonna make a modest prediction, John Gabreau is the next Wayne Gretzky...

johngaudreau03 John Gaudreau

#Luongosucks

I like him already!

Also sounds like he won't be going to Northeastern. Wonder if the flames may try to get him into the WHL or if he'll choose another college.

I can't see him going to the CHL, but I wish he would. Players just don't get enough games playing in the NCAA.

Yeah but he really needs to bulk up and it's hard to bulk up during the grind of a CHL season.

The college route is really good for him in that aspect because he'll have a lot more time to put on weight in the weight room.

Hopefully he gets a trainer and hits the gym for the next 2-3 years. His stats are impressive, but he'll get demolished in the NHL at ~140 lbs.

To put into perspective, Gerbe is even shorter at 5"5' but weights over 170lbs a good 30lbs more.

Where did you here that? We in Dubuqe would like him to come back for one more year. He could put on some more weight. Sometimes NHL and Colleges make players play another year for development too.

Well, to be fair, on the Dubuque Saints website he's listed at 5'9 148 pounds, so he may be a bit larger then we're giving him credit for.

Calgary Flames director of scouting Tod Button told the Fan 960 in Calgary that John Gaudreau will not be going to Northeastern next year.

Reading that again just now maybe that means he'll be back in Dubuque next year and then head to Northeastern.

There's an interview with Button on the Fan's website and he talks about all the kids who were drafted today, and he said that Gaudreau had been committed to going to Northeastern, but that was to play under a certain coach, who has left the university to join the Leafs organization, so he is no longer committed to going there. It sounded like he'll do one more year in Dubuque then consider his options in the NCAA.

On the other hand, this story on Dubuque's web page makes it sound like he's going to college next season: http://www.dubuquefightingsaints.com...ry.php?sid=191

The Fan also has an interview with the Dubuque coach who you can tell thinks really highly of the kid. He said that if he bulks up and keeps developing his game, he'll be the best small player the Flames have had since Fleury.

He's a goal scorer. Get em a Enforcer like Gretzky had and you are going to want to hang on to him. He's quick agile, and sneaky behind the net.
