Also, a coffee and walking around the mall I would suggest TD square downtown. More high end stores, but great coffee shops, and most your normal stores. You also have everything on Steven Ave (the bay, sport check, all the outdoors stores).... Great place on weekends when its nice out.

I can't help but think you guys that prefer Market Mall haven't been to Chinook lately. Chinook is to Market Mall what Market Mall is to Northland Village Shoppes.

Market Mall has very little for men to do. My wife loves it, I get bored out of my skull - and I like malls.

If you park in the Home Depot parking lot by the pedestrian bridge, there is usually easy parking, then you just walk over Macleod and your into Chinook. It blows my mind how much effort people put into walking 100 meters less. Especially in the summer it's no big deal. Also, there's an underpass under Macleod trail in the NE corner of Macleod and Glenmore. If you park in the A&W parking lot, you can go to that corner where the underpass is and you come out by Kal Tire. Easy peasy.

I don't understand this Chinook Parking complaint. I've been there a BAZILLION times, and have parked in the south side covered parking every single time.....never waited/hunted for a space - ever. Not even a Christmas.

As for the best mall....Chinook wins. Its the only mall where men can buy their underwear (Zellers) while ladies buy theirs (Victoria's Secret). Combo, for the win.

I have to disagree with the Chinook parking, the underground lot is gold.

The new parkade makes going to Chinook super easy. P2 of the new parkade is always half empty when P1 is full.

There's not nearly enough mockery of a mall-bound lifestyle in this thread. Didn't any of you watch "Dawn of the Dead"? Even in the 70s they knew about malls sucking out your soul and spitting back a zombie.

Going to a mall every now and then isn't a lifestyle.

Weekend afternoons are just brutal. I look there too but, yes, I've seen it almost totally full. I blame the theatres and my horrible timing.

I said we like to go on Saturday's, but that doesn't mean we go every Saturday. Just something to do. We grab a coffee, check our lottery ticket, see if any new movies have come out on BD at HMV, etc. We might spend an hour at the mall and then we are off and doing something else. It's not like we spend ALL DAY at the mall, EVERY Saturday.

I don't think it is technically even a mall anymore. There is no interior access to any store.

I agree with Jammies here, though not necessarily with what I assume is a negative connotation though.

I've noticed it's a generational thing. I think people who spent their formative years in the 80s and early 90s are more prone to have "the mall" (indoor shopping centre with one or more anchor department stores) be their default destination for their needs, be they non-perishable items, entertainment, food, or just a place to hang out. They grew up when that was the trend. Say what you will about that "lifestyle" but it's a hell of a lot better, in my opinion, than what the following generation will be most familiar with - power centres.

Don't get me wrong though - it sounds pretty boring for an adult couple to get pumped about going to the mall more than, say, once every couple of months just to hang out
