I get Friday off and I'm trying really hard to convince myself to not go out and blow 150 bucks tomorrow night at some tent.
Can someone please give me a reason to not go out tomorrow night other than I'll be slightly hung over Friday morning when I'm getting ready for Cboys!

That's my understanding. Here's the parade route: http://parade.calgarystampede.com/parade-route-map.html
The prince and princess (duke and duchess?) will start at the end of the regular route and end at the start.

Any recommendations for parties around town late next week? I'll be in town Weds-Sun for my first stampede in 5 years. I've canvassed all my friends who work downtown but figured I'd see what others have to say.

I don't think anything of significance is happening from Wed-Sun next week. C'est la vie.

That's like saying you don't understand the wanna-be hockey player mentality involved with putting a jersey on and heading to a Flames game.
Perhaps you should try looking at as an actually-is party mentality.

Yup, you would be delicious if you are what you eat and you try one of the tasty doughnut burgers.

Stampede just isn't the same since my wife and I first got together. Since I want to remain faithful to her I can't go around banging random skanks for 10 days any more. (fade scene to slow mo reminiscing)

Can anyone confirm with me that if you get to the stampede grounds early enough on any day it's open, you can get in for free?

If you stow away in one of the rides (or whack-a-mole, tell Fantastic Dan to move) over night, you can get in free in the morning.

Yesterday:
Friend: "I've got free tickets to Dierks Bentley at Cowboys tonight!"
Me: "That's going to be aweso...ooooh, I have a wife and a grumpy ten-month-old son. Have a great time, take pictures for me."

If you go by 9 on the first Sunday and Wednesday it's free admission.

Or you could just swim across the Elbow. A couple turns on the Zipper and you'll be dry.

I don't need to dress up like a cowboy to go out and party. I'm not a cowboy, and it'd be a safe bet to think 75% of the rest of the crowd is not either, so why dress up like one. However I am a flames fan... hence why I put on a jersey. But if you need a cowboy hat and boots to go out and have a good time then go ahead, I just don't understand it. I wonder if real cowboys get annoyed with it as much as flames fans get annoyed with poser fans during playoff runs?

Heaven forbid people have a little fun and dress up as a cowboy 10 days of the year.

And these people are fans of the Stampede, so they put on cowboy gear. Incredibly complicated mystery solved.
