Thought of another fave of mine - the scene in Unbreakable where Bruce Willis' character discovers his powers in Grand Central Station. A really interesting sequences and I loved the way it was shot.

Neat thread. I say that about any movie thread. :P

Where to start...

Rounders - The climactic scene at the end between Matt Damon's character and Teddy KGB

One Flew Over The ####oo's Nest - The Chief suffocates McMurphy and makes a break for it. Probably the best movie scene of all time.

Se7en - "What's in the box?"

Paths Of Glory - The closing pub scene in which the German girl sings to the crowd of soldiers. Gets me every time.

Vertigo - The watchtower scene at the end. Classic Hitchcock- that feeling you get like "what the hell just happened, and even though it's a bit confusing, why do I feel like I've just watched something remarkably brilliant?"

Mystic River - The scene at the end in which the killer is revealed, and the Kevin Bacon & Laurence Fishburne characters arrive just in time- the tension in that scene is incredible, and it is directed by Eastwood so efficiently.

The Two Towers - Battle at Helm's Deep. The best part of the trilogy for me. Gimli and Legolas fighting off the Orcs on the narrow bridge is just too awesome for words.

Those are just for starters. The montage sequence at the end of Requiem as well, but somebody beat me to it. Simply harrowing.

1.The scene in Heavenly Creatures where Pauline and Juliette kill their mother..one of my favourite movies of all time and totally underrated

2.The lighting of the torches from Minas Tirith to Edoras in Return of the King

3.The scene in Ed Wood where Martin landau gets offended by comparisons to Boris Karloff

4.The ending of Breakfast at Tiffanys..finding "cat"...makes me bawl everytime

5.Night of the Living Dead..the entire opening sequence is terrifying..and when you see that fat zombie turn around in the Darkness..

6.Day of the Dead...the final 5 minutes..one of the few times I had to turn my head when watching a horror flick!

7.Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974..the hook and the slamming of the steel door

Almost any scene in Braveheart but in particular the battle scene speech by Mel Gibson to his countrymen. " I am William Wallace. And I see before me a whole army of my countrymen. Will you fight? Reply: no we will run and live. William Wallace: Fight and you may die, run and you'll live. At least a while. And dieing in your beds many years from now would you trade all the days from this day till that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives but they'll never take our FREEDOM!!

Soooo.... Peter, been missing alot of work lately?
If I had to narrow it down I'd say my favourite scene in Office Space is where Peter is talking to the two Bob's.

I can't believe on one mentioned the ending scene to Fight Club. The part where all the buildings blow up. That was pure gold.

Groundhog day - when Bill Murray wakes up in the morning .

Leg crossing scene in Basic Instict.

On a more serious note the scene in God Father where Alfredo is taken out on a boat trip right after the mother dies.

For sheer enjoyment and satisfaction I would have to agree.

LOTR-FOTR

The scene at the end where Frodo is standing on the riverbank decicing what to do and then hears Gandalf's voice.

The marriage of picture and music is perfect.

The opening scene to Way of the Gun is the only scene I've watched over and over. Its just pure gold. "You wanna do the man dance? First dance is yours."

The gunfight at the end of that movie is also up there.

The scene in Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story when he fights the guy who broke his back in front of that big crowd and beats him in under a minute just like he said. Bruce Lee was awesome.

The zipper scene in There's Something About Mary.

The dance off scene in Zoolander, possibly the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.

Finally when Al Pacino loses it at the end of ...And Justice for All. That movie was a real eye opener for me regarding Pacino, I always thought he was good but he was truly great in that role.

For pure sound and crash value, I love the train crash scene in The Fugitive. Nothing like a good ol' fashioned train wreck to get the speakers rattling.

Commando- Arnold Schwarzenegger

"You know Sully? I like you... thats why I'm going to kill you last."

Later on in the movie Arnold is dangling Sully over a cliff (with one arm of course)

"You know when I told you I'd kill you last?"
"ya!"
"I lied."

Now Arnold moves towards Sully's flipped over car and flips it over then drives away in it.

Classic.

The fight scene in Matrix 1 with Morpheous vs. Neo was sweet also.
