My kids both have normal names. My daughters is a more classic woman's name that can easily be converted to a pop star/stripper name if she decides to go that route. The wife wasn't a big fan of me pointing out that option, but I figure you gotta give a kid options, right?
On a related note, Mrs. Rathji's sister is about to have a baby and the father seriously wants to name it Kid, with the middle name "Danger". At first I thought she should counter with Charles and "Norris" as the middle name, but she still won't go for either.

I dont think so.

"The name Liam is certainly a modern Irish [1] pet form of Uilliam, but there is no persuasive evidence that it was used before the 17th century."
"[1] It seems to be very little used in Scotland."
And that aside, it's a great name. As long as people are still being named Bill, Dave, Fred, George and Bob every other male name shouldn't be allowed to be considered lame or overplayed.

I campaigned pretty hard to give my son the middle name "Danger". I just don't really care about middle names, and figured that he could at least use that line when he's older to fail miserably at picking up girls.

I sincerely thought that Seven would be an awesome name......and got super pissed off when I heard it on Seinfeld.
And then I turned 12 and realized how stupid the name was.

Seven was from the same episode.
GEORGE: Pamela?! Awright, I tell you what. You look like nice people,
I'm gonna help you out. You want a beautiful name? Soda.
KEN: What?
GEORGE: Soda. S-O-D-A. Soda.
CARRIE: I don't know, it sounds a little strange.
GEORGE: All names sound strange the first time you hear 'em. What, you
Telling me people loved the name Blanche the first time they heard it?
KEN: Yeah, but uh... Soda?
GEORGE: Yeah, that's right. It's working.
CARRIE: We'll put it on the list.
GEORGE: I solve problems. That's just what I do.

I will give Hinton a bit of leeway since she was only like 13 when she wrote that book, but man that story was full of stupid names. Soda Pop? Pony Boy? Twobit? Steve Randle? Those are supposed to be cool nicknames?
