Tough call. I'd probably say Brodie. Just because I think that they'll need to have Erixon play a year with the Heat to get used to North American Rinks and adjust to the longer schedule. Brodie has that already and the only thing that will hold him back is if his play isn't up to snuff (which is the case for Erixon as well).

Erixon looked pretty solid in the last couple years in the north American rinks. I think his style of at lends itself to adapting pretty solidly.

Erixon, by the way, has surpassed the SEL junior player record for points previously held by Hedman.

What the heck is going on with John Negrin?

He has been injured for awhile, no?

He was once one of our better prospects. Sutter said the year he was drafted they would have been happy with either Negrin or Backlund at the 22 spot. Then it was double bonus that he was still available in the second round.

I think he has some decent upside, I hope the injuries don't derail his development. Especially now that Pelech might be a "Bust"

Blocked a shot, broke his knee cap. Played through it for a month and then injured his ankle. While waiting for that to rehab he got his knee checked out. Ended up getting shut down for the season. Surgery repairs the knee but off season training with Hesketh may have been too intense. A screw in his knee breaks during the summer. Two games into the season(this one) his knee starts swelling like crazy. He gets anoter surgery to get the screw removed and 5 months later he is playing.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Erixon is closer to the NHL than Brodie, but there still is a significant possibility that Erixon does go to the AHL first.

I say Erixon is closer, because of competition. He has played against professional players for 3 seasons. He is very stout and get's high praise, as JW said, for his 2way play. I think He sticks in Camp next year and brodie is up and down more often. I say brodie has more work to do defensively than Timmy. Erixon also has good offensive capabilities, so it's not too much of a trade off.

PS. I think that Brodie might make an appearance late, so does that count?

Or is the initial question in need of refinement? a la, who establishes themselves first?

Alas, they both intrigue me. Darryl was severely underrated for his ability to draft defensemen. I still got hopes for pelech, baldwin and negrin.

And does anybody know the OHL scout that darryl religiously turned to for FA defensemen from the O?

I believe it's Tom Webster, former head coach of the Rangers and Kings.

You nailed it right there.

those two have transitioned so many quality d prospects most recently breen, wilson, Giordano, and SMontador if I'm not mistaken. I wonder who else they have developed over the years?

thanks for the name though...

I suppose I need some more stat related notes to balance out the post.

Bjorklund now has 16g 12a in 51 games for Rogle.

And I was comparing stats of BU players, surprisingly our "5 11, 185 pound" Arnold is almost outscoring highly touted Chris Kreider. I like that pick and if he and Larson turn out to be pro commodities then even more respect is due Darryl, IMO.

And congrats to Timmy!! with his new record and his success with Skelleftea.

I wonder if Ottawa will draft Larsson, then look at us for Timmy.

That trio are lookin' straight Gold right now.

So here's a bit of a piss off: Keith Seabrook scored a goal in his first game with the Moose tonight.

The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (15-5-5, 11-12-4 WCHA) climbed up to seventh place in th WCHA standings thanks to a big 3-2 victory at #5/6 University of Denver (20-10-5, 16-8-3 WCHA) on Friday, March 4 at Magness Arena in Denver, Colo.

The Huskies's Aaron Marvin (Warroad) charted the game-winner in the third period with a 4x4 goal at 18:24, with a solo assist from junior forward Travis Novak (Lethbridge).

The stage was then set for Marvin's late game heroics, which marks the second consecutive game that he has posted a goal. He now has three goals in the last two contests for the Huskies.
Did he score the goal while driving a 4x4?

Just saying:

Ales Kotalik with the Heat: GP14 G3 A12 P15 +9

I think he leads the team in +/- already, and he has 9 points in his last four games.

Wouldn't it be great if he helped the Heat into a post-season birth while regaining his confidence, and was available to Flames in case of injury during their own playoff run.

Maybe Kotalik wasn't a complete bust after all. He's clearly still helping this Flames franchise, even if it is with their affiliate team.

He scored with an actual 4x4 piece of wood. That's what he plays with. He is THAT good!

No, no, no. He put his head down, formed the Flying V with his teammates with him leading in the front, and literally trucked them all down like Walter Payton.

Seabrook had a goal last night in his first game playing with the Moose.
He had two assists tonight.
Good to see Seabrook doing well right now, wish he was doing it with the Heat.

Heat lost 2-1 in overtime tonight.
Bouma from Negrin and Kotalik.

On the way home from Oklahoma City. Heartbreaking loss, Irving almost had a shutout but OKC scored with just 17 seconds left to put game into OT. Aside from who I obviously thought was the best player , Irving was absolutely incredible. OKC had a pretty good turnout and I was impressed with all the fun stuff they did for the crowd, including having 4 military repel down from the ceiling onto the ice with the flags before the anthems were sung. They also gave a little lesson about hockey rules like offside and icing which was cute. We really enjoyed the game aside from the loss. I thought Pelech looked solid tonight, very tough looking. Hope they do better tomorrow!
