I think it depends on the set up. I find with home games that are put together at random are very tough to fill up. But if you have a set day sometimes people can plan around that.
For example I play in two home games where one is the first Thurday of every month and the other is the last Saturday of every month. So everyone knows to plan around that or at least call to find a replacement well in advance.
Maybe we can build towards something like that and hopefully have 7-10 people who can make it most times we schedule and just fill in the spots as needed.

return to the red might be a better admin than myself, given the ages of my children my home life is rather busy. I am just hoping to make it to most of the games.

Would anyone be interested in playing on the 18th or 19th? 7pm or 8pm or 9pm (MT)?
NL Holdem (9 players per table)
$20 + 2; no rebuys, no add-ons
Top 15% are paid out or top 3 (depends on turn out)
5 min. break every hour
Blinds: 15 minutes
Starting Chips: 3000
One option I'd be interested in as well is throwing on a bounty (knockout) to make it $20 entry, $5 per bounty and $2 for the house (PS). Also if we wanted to make it a bit longer/friendlier game we could go up to 5000 starting chips.
Thoughts?
So far possible players and available dates...
HOOT: 18, 19 (no preference)
VladtheImpaler: 18 or 19 (9pm works best)
return to the red: 18 (later the better)
squiggs96: 19 (maybe)
Frank MetaMusil: 18, 19 (no preference)

18th or 19th is good - the later the start the better for me. I'd vote for 9 pm.

Does the knockout option mean $2 goes to PokerStars for every $5 of cash put in? I am confused, but that seams like an incredibly high rake? I think a 10% rake is already pretty high.

I could do the 18th most likely and maybe another one depending on what I do that weekend. Later works better as the gf works nights.
I see we have 19 people registered in the group yet there is only about 5 or 6 posting in the thread. Anyone else interested in playing tonight or should I just unregister?

So it breaks down like this:
Players would pay $27 to play, $20 would go towards the prize pool, $5 goes to bounty, and $2 is the rake.
A person gets a bounty if they knock someone out. So even if you don't win any money from the prize pool you could win $5 each time you knock someone out of the tourney.
It was just an idea because that's how we play in my Thursday night game and it adds a little bit more money to the pool but more people have a shot at winning a couple bounties throughout the night even if they don't place.

I've also edited my post with the tourney details with people possibly interested in that weekend and dates they might be available just to see what interest we get on certain nights. Also I'm pretty flexibile on start time as I'm an hour behind.

HOOT, you can schedule up tournaments for the next few days if you want to. I might not make it tonight either, but I've got 4 hours to figure things out.

I might get involved in this also. Not tonight though. Not really being familiar with the terms rake or bounty, I would be easy pickings it seems.

The Rake is an amount the website takes from each person. It's how they make money! Bounty is as Hoot mentioned. You knock out someone, you get the bounty. Pretty straight forward.
I'd join you guys, but all the dates listed so far don't work for me...I'll keep an eye out for a good date and join in when I can though. I love Home Games.

Duff man I am pretty new to the online poker myself. I took some time to learn what the bounty and knockout games were after seeing HOOTs post. The rake is just the portion of money the "house" takes.

BTW I don't think I will be able to make it tonight either. Doesn't look like very many people are going to be able to make it tonight.

Sounds good. Doesn't seem like too many people can get together tonight or this week anyways. That's why I'm trying to plan something for the future so people can hopefully make it that way.

I'd be on for sure tonight if it wasn't for the live game I'm playing.
If anyone has some friends who might be interested for the 18-20th weekend let me know. I'd say at this point all are welcome, not just CP members, so we can fill up some tables.
