as i'm sure all of the anti-vax proponents know, the risk from aspirin is infinitely greater than that of vaccination. the biggest of these risks being gastrointestinal and intracranial bleeds.

I do believe that the swine flu was a lot of fear mongering. There are suggestions by doctors that the swine flu did not kill people at a rate any higher than the normal flu. It was just the fact that it was so contagious and was a heckuva of a nasty bout. I had that stupid thing for almost three weeks. However, there are dangers to getting the flu shot as well.

doctors never suggested that the h1n1 flu would kill at a higher rate (this has been discussed many times on this forum already). they actually suggested that the mortality rate was lower, simply that it seemed to kill different cohorts than the regular flu. either way, the flu shot is not about decreasing mortality on a statistically significant level, it is about decreasing morbidity. furthermore, what are these dangers of getting the flu shot, please enlighten us.

This is the most recent thread with the word "swine flu" in the title so it'll have to do. Just got back from the doctor and sounds like I have swine flu. Man its brutal! It's like a cold and flu combined. Last night I had such a bad fever that I was laying on the floor 6" in front of my heater (which was cranked to full blast) in the fetal position, trying to stop shaking. Good times.
On the plus side, the week off has been nice. Killed lots of zombies in RDR so far, and I plan on killing some more.

I laughed at all the sheeple who waited in line to get their H1N1 shots, waiting in the cold, surrounded by sick people.
You know how i stay healthy? Eat good, exercise, and avoid sick people like the plague.

To my knowledge I never had a flu shot before, but i definitely have had the flu every odd year in my life, as well as the H1N1 which was fine.
Vaccinations in general is a pretty tested and true practice though. has saved millions of people for many different illnesses, mainly smallpox. I beleive the original tests done by Jenner (spelling?) were pretty savage, but provided the result of preventing sickness before it could occur.

I tend to believe theres something to this, I had a brutal flu xmas eve 11 years ago. It lasted 3 days and I thought I was going to die bad, were talking hallucinations, both ends..the works. even know my kids bring a flu bug home all the time I haven't had one since!
No flu shots ever, just natural antibodys from some sort of brutal flu.

That was around the time the Hong Kong flu was going around, which I also had. The fever was so intense. I remember thinking at the time that I was communicating with my dad somehow, like through telepathy or something. I was completely out of it. When it was done though, I never felt so good in my life.
I had the H1N1 vaccine 2 years ago and haven't had so much as a cold since then.

I have had almost exactly the same experience. I got the swine flu when it was going around, just before the vaccine became available. I haven't been sick at all since then, and I usually got the flu once per year before that, so the 10 days of agony might have paid off.

I've recently come down with mono. Holy hell this sucks. I can't even swallow my own spit, let alone eat. I can't wait for 2-3 months of this.
