Consider a half step down from the Escalade, to a 2007+ Yukon Denali.

Same 400Hp+ engine (2009 and on, 07-08 had the same 6.2L engine, detuned to 380hp), same 6 speed tranny, same upgraded leather seats (I had one, now have a regular Yukon, night and day, both the seats and the tranny). Both it and the Escalade have the load levelling air suspension in the back, which I miss with pulling out 5500lb trailer.

Just no cooled seats and the NAV screen, if so equipped, is 1.5" smaller, no HID lights up front, or LED lights in back, and 20" wheels, not 22"..certainly understated over the Escalade, but the same mechanical guts.

Nevermind save a fair bit of cash (new or preowned) over the Caddy or anything else listed, to put towards the CTS-V. Maintenance is about as reasonable price wise, and reliability wise, as you can expect out of the list, as you'd know from owning a GMC truck.

Just saw this thead.

Save your time and don't even bother looking at an X5. The reliability on these things is probably the worst out there. Mine is honestly in the shop probably every other month, if not every month to the tune of at least a 1000 bucks a shot. I can't wait to get rid of it.

I actually pick up my Diesel Touareg Friday....pretty nice rig, and it's perfect for what I want.

I'll put it to the test this weekend when I haul a sled trailer with it.

I'm sorry I forgot to follow this thread since initially posting in it. I am glad you liked my touareg suggestion. A friend of mine has had both the gas and the diesel and both are awesome. I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

On a side note, what sort of break-in do diesels typically need? Is it 'safe' to start hauling on a brand new engine?

Well, seeing as I have to drive it back from Grande Prairie, I'm assuming it will be nice and broken in by the time I'm home.

Not sure what the break in is, but I'm assuming the dealership will go over that with me.

My Buddy just picked one up in December. It's great. He works in the auto industry and regularly tours the plants in Europe.

He reshearched for about 6 months before placing his order. I think you made a good choice.

Diesels take thousands of km to fully break in, some people say almost 100,000. The actual break in before towing is probably 500-1000km, maybe more since its foreign.
