I scoffed when the woman said that we needed one. I survived this long without one afterall, right? Well I have no problems admitting that she was right about that thing. I love it. Again, not only because of the way I sleep better, but also because I haven't been addicted to chapstick at all since we got it. In previous years I'd go through at least 10 things of chapstick (used and lost). This year I've got the same little tube of chapstick in my truck from a month ago. Forget about saving three bucks every couple of weeks, I'm loving the fact that I don't have the cracked corner mouth. That's the worst part about winter for me. Lips get chapped, get a cracked middle of the lip, or corner of the mouth, and it takes forever to heal. Seems like it takes until the end of winter. Not this year. My humidifier is my new favorite thing.

The full cut-off fixtures are pretty cheap fixtures. They've had a real problem with bulbs shattering on the major roads where there isn't any cover from the wind (Metis Trail around 128 Ave for an example) and it's because the bulbs aren't secured in the fixture very well. They went cheap for you taxpayers, but it may turn into a bit of a maintenance nightmare when the wind gets bad in the neighbourhood areas.

I appreciate that, but it's a post like that, that makes people think Edmonton is worse weather wise than Calgary. You know what? It isn't. If you look at recent years, Calgary has actually gotten more snow than Edmonton.
Just happens to be our turn right now.

Had to abandon my car a block from my house in a 4 foot high snow drift I couldn't really pass last night coming home. Luckily, that's since been cleared / flattened by trucks. Still a 4.5 foot high snow drift blocking my driveway in panorama I've been trying to clear for the last two hours so I can get my car back in.

Getting out of Panorama shouldn't be a huge issue cuz its mostly downhill... It's the getting back in part that you should be worried about. Btw... the 14th street entrance to Panorama from Stoney was completely blocked off last night coming home to any Sedan class car (snow higher than bottom of my TSX), so was that segment of Panatella Blvd. Don't know about now. Exit to harvest seemed ok, Hidden creek entrance was ok. Back to clearing my driveway... FML

But in Calgary it melts...or part of it does.

Just spent two hours trying to dig my car out of a snow drift, I dig it out only to find my car and subsequently my entire street is slick ice underneath, zero traction. Three neighbors come out and give me a push, barely move two feet. I'm supposed to start class tomorrow but I have no idea how I'm going to get anywhere all week.

Yeah, there was more snow to move off my driveway in St.Albert yesterday than I had over two cumulative years living in Osoyoos. Unfortunately I screwed up the last 15 years of my life and didnt' make enough money to retire at the age of 34 and couldn't stay in the Okanangan. Thankfully a couple neighbours who have snow blowers were out and about clearing everyone's driveway in our cul de sac and saved my about an hour of hard labour. I think the banks at each side of my driveway have to be at least 4 and a half feet now.

Things seem fine up on the West Hill; couple cm of snow and a bit more in drifts, but nothing crazy.

2.5 hours in... Half way through this stupid snow drift. I want to give up but I'll never get to work tomorrow if I don't shovel it today. Sigh. I should just call in sick all next week.
