From what I understand, they can't really fix it as this point... keep a white list of allowed programs and ban whoever is using unauthorized programs yes... but with custom firmwares this will only get bigger and bigger.

I think it's more nostalgia than anything. IMO games today are far better then they ever have been. Playing old NES games is fun, but they lose their luster once you pluck them from your fond memories.

I still recall the sting of playing NHL 94 when it came out packed in NHL 06 and realizing my favorite game of all time didn't quite stand the test of time.

Surprisingly I found Ice Hockey for the NES stood up better because it's actually quite difficult on account of you having to control the goalie as well as the players.

I agree completely. It's mostly the nostalgia factor that makes them fun. I remember having epic Ice Hockey tournaments with my cousins when we were small. We'd even write down how many goals each player got and the standings.

But playing today, if you compared it to NHL 11, well, let's just say NHL 11 is way way better.

And I think that two years later, NHL 97 on the PS1 was the absolute worst. They obviously spent all of their resources concentrating on 3D graphics and forgot completely about the physics and AI.

Maybe it was just nostalgia. I played more 94 and 96 for some reason. Hrm. I think they should put the decible meter back in to the nhl series.

Enough about NHL 94-96 BS. Can we keep this thread on topic! Every time I see this thread bumped I hope it's a cool app for PS... But alas it's ######s* arguing about the supremacy of a mid 90's game...

* not actually dedicating you as a ###### but your topic is a bit short bus for this thread.

Anyone hear of any cool apps/homebrew for the PS3 yet?

Sounds like I'll have to pick me up a PS3 before they release a new batch with some kind of hardware fix!
