Dwayne Bowe back at practice today for the Chiefs. I think Curtis was signed because...after Bowe they don't really have another wide receiver who's much of a threat. Curtis at least has experience in playoff games.

...but basically not having a run game when you're going on the road in the playoffs is a huge blow to your playoff hopes. If we beat Seattle, I'd much rather go to the Georgia Dome in the divisionals than snowy Soldier Field. That's where you need a strong run game. Colour me very concerned..
Forecast for SEA for Saturday right now is a high of 3C with 1-3 cm of rain/snow.
As I said in the other thread, NO's last outdoor game against a beatable opponent was in chilly CIN. They pulled off a late victory thanks to the Bungles pulling their usual antics to lose the game...and due to Ivory getting 110+ yards on the ground.
Could be a sloppy game all around and SEA will need NO to make a few mistakes, but with that weather not suited to a passing game, the chances increased slightly to that happening.
SEA has announced Hasslebeck as the starter, in what could possibly be his last game in SEA depending on how things go in the offseason.
Remember the new overtime rules this week. Each team must have at least one possession is there is no TD.
Question: A team gets the ball first and kicks a FG. If they then onside kick and recover it, is the game automatically over?
Wow, great question.
I wonder if they considered the possibility even?

There's another twist to the new rules. If a team decides to pull off an onside kick to start overtime and they recover, the receiving team will have been considered to have their chance to possess the ball. That means if you pull off an onside kick and score (field goal or touchdown), the game is over.
I assume the same interpretation would apply if this was the kick post opening possession FG.

here's another scenario, though a bit far-fetched, could happen.
Say the Saints win an OT toss....go down and kick a field goal. They kick off to Seattle who returns it to the 30. On the first play Hasselback throws a pick over the middle and the Saints defender, instead of just taking a knee and ending the game, starts to run with it. He then gets hit and fumbles and it is recovered by Seattle.
Is the game over because the Hawks had their possesion but then lost it?

Yes. A turnover is definitely a possession.
Another example is if the Saints win the toss, the returner muffs catch, regains it and somehow runs into the endzone for a safety (step out, step back in), the game is over.

I don't think the game is over if that actually happened. I think the team has to lose the poessesion until the duration of a play.
If the Saints defender just takes a knee, then the game would be over. But if he keeps running and loses the ball before being down, then the game continues.
The Packers-Eagles game is the one where I have seen it basically been 50-50 in terms of predictions from various networks. I am interested to see how that game plays out.
Since I couldn't laugh at myself in the now bumped "Predict the Final Standings" thread, I may as well do my Super Bowl picks here.
WILD CARD Ravens @ Chiefs
Jets @ Colts
Packers @ Eagles Saints @ Seahawks
DIVISIONALS
Ravens @ Patriots
Colts @ Steelers
Saints @ Falcons - you heard me
Eagles @ Bears - Vick gets slowed down on the icy field by that D.
CONF. CHAMPIONSHIPS
Steelers @ Patriots
Saints @ Bears - Just can't see the Saints winning against that D on a snowy field with basically no run game.
SUPER BOWL Patriots vs. Bears
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
--If you had just asked me going into the dance who'd be in the Super Bowl without actually doing all the match-ups, no way would I have picked Chicago. It's just kinda the way it worked out. My original NFC pick was the Saints, though I am just having trouble seeing it now with their run game essentially decimated. You need to be able to pound the rock in January, especially up north. Bears look like a solid play-off team; great D, good on the run, and can pass when they have to, they could surprise some people in the playoffs (if a #2 seed can be classified as "surprising" anyone).
That said, if the NFC Championship Game is Bears @ Falcons, I'd have to take Atlanta. I just like the Bears if the playoffs run through Soldier Field like they did in my picks.

I think the Packers are going to blow out the Eagles.
Packers have a great secondary, and Vicks oline blows. Barring a miracle (ie. game against Giants) i think it's be a 34-20 type game for GB. Not to mention Vick hasn't been that good the last couple games, and the Eagles defense made Webb look like a Pro Bowl player.
