Bone started well, but I felt the story just took many unnecessary turns from starting as early as the third or fourth album. Also the quality of the drawings drop off pretty bad at times.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, but check out "Y the Last Man". Excellent. I never really have been able to get into graphic novels much before, but this one was really easy to.

A member of the Fantastic Four will be killed in this weeks new issue of FF.
Here is a really poorly written and researched article on the subject of superhero death and the looming "death" of a FF member.
http://www.calgaryherald.com/enterta...megadrop_story
Any article that brings up death/resurrection in comics and doesn't mention Spiderman is ######ed. Aunt May, Gwen Stacy, Ben Reilly (who was actually Peter Parker but was later retconed), Green Goblin/Norman Osbourn, Mysterio (although killed in DD I think he was resurrected in Spiderman), Kraven the Hunter. I guess the article does mention his Uncle Ben.

I find it more interesting that the FF is actually ending. I never thought I'd see that. Figured it'd be one of the series that just keeps plugging away.

If you're at all interested in Manga:
Darker than Black
Black God
On a side note:
Marvel is actually in the process of releasing 4 of their series into animes, I'm not sure if they are going to release English versions, but you can find them fan subbed really easily - they just released Ironman in it's entirety (12 episodes) and are currently on episode #3 of Wolverine.
I haven't watched Ironman at all, but Wolverine thus far is pretty damned good - animation style is kinda poor, which is the only draw back.

The last Green Lantern arc, Blackest Night, was really well done.
It's like a scary movie in comic book land, if you don't know the background of a lot of DC characters it might be a bit confusing at times.. but you could give it a shot.

Reis and Johns are two of the best in the business, they won a Scream award for the series, whatever thats worth..

Batman: The Killing Joke is regarded as one of the best graphic novels of all time. One of my fav's. Also Batman: The Long Halloween and Dark Victory are 2 other greats by the winning combo of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale.

I don't think Arkham Asylum is nearly as good as the praise it gets.
I don't mind the story but Dave Mckeans (sp?) art does not do it for me.

Cecil, I wouldn't really describe Kingdom Come a a supervillain team-up. There's a little bit more going on there.

Actually aren't Wanted and Old Man Logan both by Mark Millar?
I checked and yes, yes they are.

Just got Old Man Logan after you mentioned it, looks pretty cool so far.

A little late to the party, and maybe this has been suggested, but many Graphic Novels are available through Calgary Public Library. That way you can sample a few things here and there, without much monetary investment. Their online search has helped me find everything I've looked for.

It is ok. I'd give it about a 7/10. Interesting story but a tad predictable. The cool part is seeing how all the characters have evolved.
There just aren't that many classic solo Wolverine stories out there.
Blood Debt, Not Dead Yet, Enemy of the State are the only 3 I own that would come close to being classic.
Of course Weapon X and Origin are great but both are origin stories so Wolverine doesn't wear his costume or fight villains.
Edit: Forgot Wolverine/Gambit: Victims. That was amazing. I also enjoyed the 4 issue Weapon X story from AoA.

I said similar not exact.
But to fix that a bit I think I was thinking of Justice which features all the villains teaming up to form the legion of doom and take down the heroes all at once.
On an unrelated note, everyone who reads this go buy Punisher (Max): In the Beginning. Right now. Go! You won't regret it. I promise. Issue 5 is one of my all time fav issues. Just re-read this for about the 5th time. It is so friggin good.

I have all three and decided to go for The Killing Joke first, wow. This is one dark read. Watching his transformation from family man to sadistic maniac is crazy. Very dark story AND drawings.

This thread helped get me into comics again. My Ipad is loaded with .cbrs. I am really enjoying Preacher, what a sick mind the writers must have.

It only gets more twisted and awesome. I'm a huge fan of the Saint of Killers.

The series is great, I think I just finished the Saint of Killers (six part series?). I was making my own Tarantino comparison, but then I was digging around on line and discovered many other people link the two twisted styles.

DC Direct just released some new Batman action figures today and I want to get 3 of the 4 in the set. Where in Calgary would be the best (cheapest?) place to go?
I am looking online and I find Phoenix, Reddskull, and Comic Kazi. I am thinking to go to Phoenix (closest).
