For those who are curious. 10 points in 31 games in the SHL has an NHLe of 16 points.
Now Linus just turned 22, so it is still difficult to get too excited about him, nevertheless, for a player drafted for his mature 2-way play, the up tick in his offence is encouraging. The SHL is not an easy league to play in. It is widely regarded as the third best league in the world.

If you aren't dominant in the 3rd best league at age 22, your chances of making it to the best league are very remote.

Linus had a goal and an assist during a 3-2 shootout win last Saturday. The young swede has been red hot in the new year, with 2 goals and 2 assists in three games. His stat line now reads 32GP 6G 6A.

It is hard to disagree with you, still I think that there are a few things that need to be made clear. 1st is that Linus is a 1998 birthday. He turned 22 five days ago. Secondly, he was never drafted for his offensive acumen, he was always trending to be a 3rd or 4th liner. Even so he is 10th in the league for points for players 22 and under. here is a 2018 quote from BT-
Quote:
“(Lindstrom) has some offensive ability — you could see he made some plays — but he’s just a really smart, reliable guy in those types of defensive roles,” said Flames general manager Brad Treliving shortly after the world juniors. “I think he took all the big faceoffs. He played with good players, but you can see he cleans up a lot of messes, defensively, on a line. Penalty-kill. He’s a guts-of-game kind of guy.

4th round picks are long shots to begin with. I agree, that it is unlikely that he ever comes to north america. All the same, I don't think that it is fair to judge a two way player entirely on his stat line.

Lindstrom picked up another assist last weekend.
38 GP 6 G 7 A 13 Pts
While the numbers alone are not that impressive, the fact that he has more than doubled his career high with 6 games in hand is at least a little encouraging.

Lindstrom has himself a little point streak going here with another assist in a 4-1 win.
39 GP 6 G 8 A 14 Pts
Which is an NHLe of 17.5 pts.
Skelleftea only has 13 games remaining this season and they are currently in 8th, with the top 10 teams qualifying for playoffs. It should be fun to follow, and it is nice to see that Lindstrom will be able to contribute.

Nygard just signed a 2nd NHL deal with the Oilers at slightly less production at the same age as Lindstrom FWIW

Interesting. I am not huge on Lindstrom, but the NHL always has room for 4th liner who can kill penalities.

The Point streak continues! Three assists in three games. The 22 year old Swede looks to have found his game.

Lindstrom with a short handed goal in the first period! Normally I wait for the game to be over before I update, but I think that a five game point streak is worth the hype!
barring more points his stat line will read.
42 GP 7 G 11 A 18 Pts
Edit: add another assist to that!
1 goal 5 assists in 5 games.

Looks like Lindstroms point streak has come to an end. However Skelleftea is still on their win streak.

Linus has missed the last two games. I can't find any reporting on it, so hopefully it is only something minor.

Linstrom has been back in action for a little bit now. Skelleftea is still red hot, and they are currently 2nd in the SHL with only 2 games remaining in the season. No points for Linus since he has come back from his injury.

Honestly I doubt it. Lindstrom has improved tremendously this season ( he tripled his production over last year). All the same, his 19 points is pretty pedestrian in the SHL, which on a good day is about a little stronger of a league then the AHL. Because of his improvement, I could see the Flames staying interested, but it is hard to say if he would want to leave Sweden. He will be turning 23 in 2021, so he is not a spring chicken, if he were to move to N.A this would have to be the year. IMO Lindstrom is a Swedish Kilmchuck, if he is going to make the Flames it will be on his 2 way play.

The Flames have 11 days to make a decision on Lindstrom.
Linus 'finished' last season with 48GP 7G 13A 20Pts 0 +/- 14:52 ATOI
Which was a 14 point improvement over last year.
Lindstrom is a 1998 birthday and will turn 23 part way through next season.
He is under contract with Skellefteå AIK until 2021
