So you know that means a 4-0 win for the good guys!! But dont expect to see me pop in on the post game win thread as I'm so old I will be lucky to stay awake until the third period.

You should look at the other half of the equation though. Their expected goals against on this road trip have been their worst three games of the season, except for the Pens game. Definitely not Sutter hockey.

Does this mean that Vladar won't be playing against his former team on Saturday, though?

Unpopular opinion: Let's put Monahan in between Coleman and Mangiapane for a game or two and see what happens.

I'm hoping they land at this at some point this season when 23 is back to himself, which he's been getting much closer to

Its cause Markstrom let in 3. Unacceptable by Sutter standards.
3-2 league. You're supposed to have the 3!

I don't think it's wrong to try, but I personally believe Backlund is a better fit there.
Until we upgrade our wingers, Backlund or Monahan will have less than ideal linemates.

That will happen to every team in the league. So I am very curious as to how long this trend will last. A big bounce back game tonight would be very telling IMO.
|
They are 7-2-1 in the last 10, 2-1 on this roadtrip and your comment is they playing poorly. What is poorly and to what trend are you referring?

Backlund is so much better at skating with the puck than Monahan. It is a critical skill that the flames have lacked in over the years. Gaudreau is the only player that is clearly better than backlund at this aspect, lindholm is very close but doesn't seem to get the same opportunity as backlund as Gaudreau takes up a lot of his potential touches.

Backlund can carry the puck, has speed and defensive accumen, but him delivering or distributing the puck has always been an exercise in chaos. Whenever anything resembling 'passing' is anywhere near Backlund, the arms flail around like dual windmills, and I don't think that even he knows how it's going to turn out. If it wasn't for this one deficiency, he would have been our #1C for the last decade.

IMO they have not played their best hockey on this road trip which is reflected in all the chances they have given up.
It’s three games, not 10. It’s been a fantastic season so far.

Haven't been as dominant in their play this trip. I don't blame them at all, it's a brutal schedule.
But we could really use one of those classic Sutter choke-out games they've given us many nights this year.

I agree with you.
Not terrible, but not the level they had been at.
Not worried, you can't be firing on all cylinders all the time (not directed at you, and not suggesting you were implying this)
