Last summer we couldn’t give Markstrom away so lets not forget he doesn’t have a perfect resume himself
Mercer just makes no sense, if anything they need solid d-man prospects, they are so thin in the pipeline

they have players like coronato, honzek, Pelletier, zary, shargonvich, kuzmenko, they have too many small forwards, mercer just further compounds this problem

I think for it to make sense for Calgary, especially if they are retaining salary, 2024 first round pick has to be on the table, plus a mid level propect

If Hughes, Nemec is off limits, then this year's first round pick has to be in play, Mercer is not going to turn this organization into a contender
Getting Mercer back for Markstrom is most likely a pipe dream. If you expect more, you're setting yourself up for disappointment (or you haven't followed Mercer).

I am not expecting more, I think Calgary would prefer the 2024 st round pick, you like Mercer, I don't

New Jersey would much prefer giving a 1st vs Mercer. I would think that Mercer is a non starter for them.

Mercer is much better than a lottery ticket late round first in a draft that is supposed to drop off.

so you're making a huge assumption the one player, that probably multiple teams want, would be available with a later round pick. He is ranked as high as 10th, usually around 16th

Mercer is what, the fifth highest scorer from the 2020 draft so far.

They’re not going to be able to pay every single ELCer at this rate. They desperately need a goalie and have needed one since Brodeur (Schneider was too injury prone and the rest have been meh).

More then a couple.

Flames won 4 in a row, then got to an early lead but lost the lead against Toronto after being comfortable, then the Oilers fluked a GWG in a tight game, and Flames in full control and should've been up by more than 2 going into third ivs StL but lost it in third with under a minute.

A stinker against Columbus next but then 4 wins in a row since that.

Flames have played well in 11 of last 12 games, and the 8 wins they have are low for what they should have IMO.

Then I would think Jacob Markstrom is a non starter for us.

I'd rather keep Markstrom and have him and Wolf as a tandem later. I feel like throwing Wolf to the wolves (lol) is not going to help his development long term.

At this point, acquiring an extra 1st rounder gives them the flexibility to trade up to secure Tij while not overdrafting him because of who his dad is.

All I'm saying, is this team looks like it could win a round or two. Marky isn't a UFA, so there no rush to move him.

Sign Hanifin, trade Tanev, get a couple cheap 6/7 Ds at the deadline and see what happens.
