I foresee a sharp increase in the sales of external battery packs. I like the Anker ones.

People are pretty dumb, but they aren't that dumb. They still have the ability to choose whether or not they want to buy a pizza.

If you can have some sort of Pokeman thing appear for paying a fee, and have some kind of way to advertise it to the P:Go community, it could really up traffic.
On a related note, my limited knowledge of this game is showing that they utilized the Ingress portal locations as a basis for the Stops and Gym locations, so anyone who is downtown should check out Central Memorial Park if they want a rich play area, or seeing a hundred people stare at their phones.

Looks like the iOS update is out now. Permissions scaled back to normal and some bug fixes. Only for iOS. Android updates coming later (but android didn't have the permissions issue that iOS had).

Any news on the Canada release date for android? I've seen the FPK files and I'd rather not go installing something that leaves the phone exposed to malware.

Yeah, this is basically Ingress with a new skin. Lots of Google patronage behind this game.

oh they definitely are, I was just getting into my car outside my house when a guy rolls up stops in the middle of the road, whips out his phone and starts taking pictures of the road.
I mean I guess it could have been something else he was up to, but i doubt it.

Well this god damn thing doesn't work on my phone because my phone doesn't have a gyroscope. Eff you, Motorola! I mean I could play without AR but what's the point?

I always turn the AR off. The novelty of that wears off quickly.

Pretty simple fix, if you ask me (who knows nothing of coding or programming) would be to restrict movement speeds to like 10-15km/HR. Since your phone is tracked by GPS, speed calculations aren't an issue. If your phone is moving faster than 15km/hr, the app automatically locks you out.
I understand people in the passenger seat would be affected, but is better to exclude passengers than to include drivers. IMO.

Excellent stuff though. With the humidex in Montreal today it's 40+ degrees, and people at work are running around outside at lunch catching Pokémon.

When I played Ingress, I was often on transit. This change would have been massively terrible for the game play.
I have no idea how the game play for Pokeman Go works, so it might not be feasible to play on Transit or while moving, making your solution possible, however it wouldn't stop the situation that Dan02 was talking about where someone drives up and stops in order to do in game actions.
