If Burke talks to him and says something like "You're still a part of our plans, we are happy the way you are progressing" or as Parallex said I don't see that as being an issue like you are saying.
You said the Flames can't talk to him directly, they have to communicate with him through his coaches and that doesn't really make sense. According to that Burke couldn't call him and congratulate him on winning The Beanpot.

They are allowed to talk to coaches and GMs. The issue as I understand it is there isn't much point outside of saying "Hey, we think you're great", or "we'd like you to get more physically involved". There can be no talk about what the player may or may not recieve, promises that they will get anything when they sign whatsoever.

Seriously, were worried about the kid cause he eats skittles?
Jesus what has this world come to. He is far and away the best player in NCAA hockey and probably the prospect with the highest upside the Flames have ever had (if his NCAA domination can translate).
But he likes Skittles so lets get serious. AHL player at best.

I think the real issue is Burke isn't texting Johnny enough. Or not writing enough words in his text messages.

Yeah because that is exactly what is being said. Reading comprehension is clearly your strong point.
The discussion is if his off ice conditioning and preperation will allow him to play pro right away.

Jokinen has fluctuated as being a top NHLer and he crushed big macs on the regular.

The fact that anything is being said about his consumption of skittles is ridiculous.

I'd be concerned if he still liked fun dip. I mean he's half way through college already. Tastes have to mature

If he plays like this while eating Skittles, imagine what he could accomplish with a proper pre-game diet...

I know people like to bring this up everytime there is Flames talk regarding players, trades, etc but Burke gave up an awful lot for Phil Kessel who will never be confused with a truculent player.

It was simply brought up as an example of his otherwise horrendous eating habits. Get over it.

Yeah there was talk about his poor eating habits far before the Skittles thing. Is it blown out of proportion? Probably because most teenager/early 20's men eat some amount of junk food. Is it something he will have to work on? Most definitely.

Yeah it was brought up in an article about him a year or two ago that his eating habits weren't the best. Eating habits to me is one of the lesser concerns as that can be corrected by team nutritionists, hanging with other professionals and seeing what they eat and what it takes to stay a pro.

I'm surprised that the NCAA wouldn't have a nutritional education program and regiment similar to that of the NHL.

Of course they can talk with him... they just can't give him anything of financial worth and he can't have someone acting as an agent. They can talk with him all they want.
