High hopes is an amazing song. Rest of the album is weak imo.
Similar situation with Momentary Lapse of Reason. Sorrow is amazing. Rest of the album is weak. Anyone remember when they used to play Sorrow right before the start of the 3rd at Flames playoff games?
Both albums have great album art. One area that PF never fails to amaze.
Poles Apart is absolutely stunning, easily in my top 10 PF songs

peter12 was a good guy, opinionated but a good guy...
I thought MMF was a D-bag.
Same here. peter12 did not insult posters he didn't agree with. MMF did.
P.S. For some strange reason, I always thought those two were relatives though. Don't recall why, specifically, but do vaguely recall something about it, a comment from one to the other, or something like that... Could be totally wrong, of course.

My list is entirely different:
WYWH
DSOTM
Animals
The Wall
Atom Heart Mother (I don't get the hate for this one, I love it)
Meddle (It's pretty much tied with AHM)
Saucerfull
Division Bell
Piper
Obscured By Clouds
Everything else. Even though an album like UmmaGumma has it's moments of brilliance (Be Careful With that Axe Eugene for example)
My list:
"Shine on Your Crazy Diamond" - the best rock-song ever written and performed.
WYWH - the best rock-album ever.
[ big gap ]
DSOTM
The Wall
Animals
Division Bell
Everything else they did was more or less a background music to me. I don't say this lightly either. Pink Floyd is my favourite rock-group of all times and I own all of their published work on LPs, CD's, tapes, DVDs and digitally.

To be fair, they're dorm kids, so what do you really expect?

High Hopes is actually not that great on The Division Bell, sure it's a great song but that particular studio treatment is wanting. There are several live performances that are much more soulful and bring out the true beauty of the track. The same can be said about Sorrow the studio track is flat, the live versions are spectacular.
High Hopes is easily one of the best Floyd tracks, plus the lyrics are not shall we say simplistic as most Roger Waters stuff.
Pink Floyd sucks. Just noise. I'm actually annoyed reading about them in this thread.
To be fair, aren't you annoyed by almost everything?
Welcome back Hockey Ninja. Your contributions were missed. Grappling with the crap life throws at you isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. Don't get too high, and don't get too low. There's always tomorrow. And other cliché platitudes that one throws out at times like these.
Seriously, glad to hear you're doing better. Just take it one day at a time and strive to improve every day. That's all you can do.
