Quote:
Marcus Sylvegard, RW, 23, Malmo (SHL)
He plays with an edge, and at times, he flashes eye-catching skill, but there are also incomplete portions to Sylvegard’s game. That said, his willingness to compete for pucks and to play in difficult areas of the ice would fit well in a bottom-six role.
He had a breakout offensive campaign with 41 points in 52 games for the SHL’s Malmo Redhawks, more than doubling his previous career high, hinting at more scoring to come.

Taking a while to get to 5000

I'm expecting the usual responses.
Its a free asset, its harmless, if it works out great if it doesn't oh well,
...and for Treliving to say that this person isn't a savior if he do in fact sign him.
No idea why he'd care now, yet I still expect to hear it.

Are any of those usual responses, in fact, wrong?

Of course not. They were just to set up my well thought out zinger about Tre.

I actually think Cervenka would have been a solid NHL player but it was de-railed by injuries and he never got going after that.
But there was a brief series of games, where he looked legit.
THN even did a story on him, because it was looking like a great signing at one point: https://archive.thehockeynews.com/is...20IN%20A%20DAY
Behind a paywall I think.

As with American college free agents, most best case scenarios are supplementary scoring and depth defence. These Europeans will get their cup of expresso in the show if they're lucky.

Yeah, the blood clots with Cervenka came at literally the worst time. Pair that with the tear down and Hartley's 1st year as coach, it wasn't going to go too well. He never had a chance to get up to speed IMO.

I looked him up... he's still playing. Swiss-A league. Leads his team in scoring (quite a few "oh ya, I remember that guy" names) on the roster.

Jumps into the opposing team's bench when a teammate is checked through an open gate. Ends up taking on three or four guys himself. Old time hockey!
(video wouldn't embed).

Give him an eye patch and he looks like one of the kids from House of Dragons.

100% agree, he just needed more time. Sylvegard has some admirable qualities that Cervenka didn’t possess- grit, snarl, and sandpaper. If he can skate and play some kind of role on the team, then I’m liking it.

Wasn’t there also a language barrier? I thought I recalled him not being very fluent in English.
