I bet we'll see every single big name director climbing over one another to get a shot at directing these things.

I can't wait for the spinoff film "Son of Porkins". That's going to be awesome.

I would like to see them make it a little darker and get someone like Nolan to do it.

Knowing Disney though, it is going to be a movie for the main purpose of selling toys though.

How is that different from Lucas' approach?

I dunno, As much as I like Nolan I think I'd rather they go with someone with a bit more experience working in the Genre... Singer, Scott or Whedon. Given Whedon's current relationship with Disney via Marvel I could see him getting the gig.

The downside is that I think hes busy.

The upside though, is that if you're interested in re-casting to continue the story, Whedon knows a dude with 'Space-Cowboy' experience that might be useful in regards to recasting Han Solo.....

Of course he's busy... he's Joss Whedon. But yes Avengers 2 is slotted to be released in 2015... unless this purchase changes that since I'm pretty sure Disney won't want those two franchises competing with one another. And yes if Disney is going to do a Post-Return/New Republic era type storyline they'll need some new actors to play the characters and Fillion would be a great Solo (or as good as anyone other then Ford could do).
