Very cool.
For those that want to try it themselves using MJ, here are the steps I wrote down when trying it out. You can do it right from your browser without installing anything.
1. Register for a Discord account if you don't have one:
https://discord.com/register
2. Go to the Discord Midjourney Invite page and click on Accept Invite.
https://discord.com/invite/midjourney
3. Go to the Discord Midjourney Channel
https://discord.com/channels/662267976984297473/
4. On the left hand side you'll see 'Newcomer Rooms' such as "newbies-127".
Click on that.
Once inside the room, type: /imagine
Right above that you'll now see '/imagine [prompt]' - Click on that.
Now type in anything you can imagine and wait for the pictures to generate.
One of the most interesting things is just watching the channel itself to see what weird or interesting things other people want to create!
You'll usually need to scroll up to watch your picture(s) forming.

I was disappointed I couldn’t get it to do Darryl Sutter lifting the Stanley Cup while riding a horse breathing fire.

I tried "Aliens playing Heavy Metal music" but just got a bunch of spaceships hovering over a fantasy type house. After that I tried "Aliens playing Metallica" and got this.

It gives you a new appreciation for the complexity of the human face because these things sure do struggle with it. It'll be cool to see how long it takes to iron that out.

The experimental --testp command with midjourney makes some amazingly detailed and realistic looking faces. I'll try to post some examples when I get a chance.

If the AI knew proper English, the dock should be smiling.

Yeah I have found it often takes a lot of rendering different variations and using different commands but get the image you are looking for. Being as specific as possible with what you are looking for definitely helps.

An AI-Generated Artwork Won First Place at a State Fair Fine Arts Competition, and Artists Are Pissed
Quote:
But Allen did not paint “Théâtre D'opéra Spatial,” AI software called Midjourney did. It used his prompts, but Allen did not wield a digital brush. This distinction has caused controversy on Twitter where working artists and enthusiasts accused Allen of hastening the death of creative jobs.
“TL;DR — Someone entered an art competition with an AI-generated piece and won the first prize,” artist Genel Jumalon said in a viral tweet about Allen’s win. “Yeah that's pretty ####ing ####ty.”
|
Quote:
According to Allen, his input was instrumental to the shaping of the award winning painting. “I have been exploring a special prompt that I will be publishing at a later date, I have created 100s of images using it, and after many weeks of fine tuning and curating my gens, I chose my top 3 and had them printed on canvas after unshackling with Gigapixel AI,” he wrote in a post before the winners were announced.
Allen said that his critics are judging the art by the method of its creation, and that eventually the art world will recognize AI-created art as its own category. “What if we looked at it from the other extreme, what if an artist made a wildly difficult and complicated series of restraints in order to create a piece…
