none of those plans seem to work for me...
The fact that everything increases outside the home zone is just bad considering I move in and out of my home zone a lot, it won't be worth it for me.

This seems like something I will be considering in a year or so when I am looking for a smart phone. I would be a very happy camper if I could use the new Google phone with Wind.

Rogers is apparently bending over backwards to retain clients. Nothing more fulfilling than seeing one of the world's cheapest companies living in fear. They got what was coming to them.
Fittingly, my bill this month was $79 overcharged.

Did you just call Rogers and tell them you were thinking of switching to Wind Mobile?
What plan did you have? and how much did they discount it for you?
I'm on Fido with an iPhone 3G I got about 14 months ago. I'm paying ~70/month for $17.50 (voice) + $30 (6GB data) + 15 (iPhone value pack) + SAF.
I would love to get this cheaper if I could.

I told them this morning that I wasn't interested in paying a system access fee, or the 911 thing. Down to $63.

Any updates from Wind Mobile users?
My Rogers plan expires in a couple months and I'm curious to see how the coverage and overall performance is.

I've been on WIND for the last week or so and coverage has been great. No dropped calls and great clarity.
You can take a look at the updated coverage map here:
http://www.spatialdatabox.com/map-de...anada-map.html
Make sure you select wind mobile on the right. This website displays all the towers around the city. As long as you live near one of these towers, you shouldn't have any problems.

You can. Lots of people have been using the Google Nexus 1 with WIND. Check out Howardforums.com for all the comments.

You can use any unlocked t-mobile phone with WIND since they work on the same frequency.

I was flying a couple wees ago and the flight was delayed a few hours. Turns out one of the other passengers was an executive with WIND Mobile and we got to talking while waiting to fly. Really smart guy with lots of interesting things to say about the company and their direction.

Bump....
Any wind mobile users out there? I am potentially thinking of switching phone companies, and this one has had alot of hype, wondering if it is a good option and worth all the hype? I have talked to one person who is with wind mobile, and they were not happy at all with the reception quality they were getting. Is there any truth to this?

I've been with them for a month now and in terms of call quality it has been very good, better then Telus in Calgary.
The drawback is that the coverage outside of major areas is small (but growing), but in Wind Zones, I have had no compaints. I've used my Wind phone in Calgary, Toronto, and Ottawa now and reception if perectly fine, no drops calls, nothing bad to say there.
The 40 bucks a month plan is insanely good too.

My sister signed up to Wind and couldn't get reception at her house and my house was out of the Wind zone (deep SE). She was moving, so she didn't return the phone right away and her new house has reception so she kept it and said it was worth the money. She even signed her daughter up to the unlimited talk and text and eliminated their home phone so the service must be at least reasonably reliable.

What happens if you drive out of the zone? Is there a roaming fee?

Yeah, it is pretty steep, but the phone does warn you if you leave.
