No one is negotiating anything. Opposition parties do not have the power to negotiate.
It wasn't Chretien who opened the door to minority parties visiting other countries. It's a common political practice. There are many international alliances of conservative/liberal political organizations.
The fact of the matter is that Trudeau acted like a complete buffoon during his trip to India. If it wasn't for the Indian media writing him off as a child, it'd probably have hurt our relations with India.
Do you honestly not expect an opposing party to take advantage? This is politics.
