Wow that's a solid move for BC. I would imagine he will end up being the starter there. I really wish the Stamps were more aggressive here as it looks like they are going to sink or swim with Maier.

Tragic. J-Min Pelley and his partner have lost their youngest daughter.
@GoElks:
It’s with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Janae Rose Comia-Pelley. The youngest daughter of Jeralyn Comia and J-Min Pelley, Janae passed away suddenly last week.
Please join us in thinking of J-Min and his family during this incredibly difficult time.

Lemon drops on the west coast...
The B.C. Lions have signed veteran American defensive lineman Shawn Lemon, bringing him back for a third stint on the west coast.
The 34-year-old edge rusher originally came to Vancouver in July of 2018 after a trade with the Toronto Argonauts. He produced 16 defensive tackles and ten sacks in 13 regular-season games, helping revive the team’s pass rush.
Lemon rejoined the Argos in free agency that offseason but was traded to the Lions for a second time in August of 2019. He went on to lead the team with eight sacks, adding 19 defensive tackles and three forced fumbles in ten games.
“Shawn is an excellent addition to our football team,” Lions’ co-general manager and head coach Rick Campbell said in a team statement.

Weird offseason for the Stamps as a lot of talent walked out the door. I guess they must really like some younger players they have under contract. Looks like a bit of a rebuild season.

Yeah, not much has changed as far as my preseason predictions are concerned in the West Division. I still have the Bombers as the top team and the Lions in 2nd place even with the departure of Rourke. Stamps, Elks, and Riders will battle it out for 3rd place in the West. Elks will actually win a home game this year

It all depends on Maier's growth. If he is what he showed last year then yes they're a 3rd place team but if he can take a step then they have other pieces to compete.

Yeesh, that's a ton of money for a guy who is in the twilight of his career...
The Saskatchewan Roughriders made Trevor Harris one of the highest-paid players in the CFL when free agency opened on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
The 36-year-old quarterback received a $250,000 signing bonus to become the face of the franchise on the prairies and will also earn $221,500 in base salary, $13,500 in housing money, $10,000 in non-football related services to the club, and a $5,000 travel allowance in 2023. In total, his compensation for this season will be exactly $500,000 in hard money.
The 10-year CFL veteran will see his compensation increase to $525,000 in the second year of the deal. He has a $250,000 active roster bonus scheduled for Feb. 1, 2024, along with $246,500 in base salary, $13,500 in housing money, $10,000 in non-football-related services to the club, and a $5,000 travel allowance.

Just a hunch but I don't think it's going to work out for the Riders. He's a soon to be 37 year old weak armed QB that couldn't handle it out west with the Eskimos and should have stayed out east. I'm not exactly sure who they were bidding against for the money to get that high as I can't imagine the Als in their situation were going to come close to this type of money.

The Calgary Stampeders have signed American offensive lineman D’Antne Demery.
The six-foot-five, 320-pound blocker played one game for the Edmonton Elks in 2021 but finished the season on the six-game injury list. He returned to the team in 2022 but was released after spending one week on the practice roster.

Roughriders add star veteran WR Walker
https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/saskatchewan-...lker-1.1925985
He kind of looked washed up the last few seasons in Edmonton. I guess he has chemistry with Harris but the Riders seem to be leaning on a lot of veteran players that are on the decline.

Hope it goes through as I can't imagine a better owner in regards to promoting the product across the province.

Wasn't this the same group looking to bring a NHL team to Quebec City a few years ago?

The Calgary Stampeders have signed American defensive back Michael Griffin II.
The six-foot, 215-pound cover man made 159 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions, eight knockdowns, and two fumble recoveries over 37 games for South Dakota State (2018-21). He was named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference’s all-newcomer team in 2019 after redshirting following a transfer.
